Have been having a wonderful holiday in Canada and Alaska until today!! We have had a number of excellent cycle tours so far on our trip so decided to do one in Whistler. What a mistake!!
We booked the tour a few days in advance and were emailed the day before asking if we would switch from 9am to 12 noon. We replied saying we could do that no problem. Our “guide” was called Ash and here are the main issues we experienced:- only 3 stops on the entire 2.5 hour tour so very little information about Whistler and surrounding area or photo opportunities. When I said to Ash 1-2-1 that I felt we needed to be given more information, he said he didn’t feel well so wasn’t up to it today!! two of our group fell behind Ash and the other three of us but he didn’t stop to wait for them. one lady fell off her bike when we were standing waiting to cross the road. Ash showed absolutely no concern for her, indeed the others in the group helped the lady up with her (heavy) electric bike. Ash then just rode away with us following. on two occasions he left us (for 5-15 minutes each time) and said he had to go somewhere.
I checked that all the others in the group (two from Canada and one from Denmark) felt the same as my wife and I and gave him feedback at the end. He showed no interest and even failed to apologise when invited to do so. He told us to get away and never come back. We reported this very first negative experience of our extensive trip to Tourist Information so that they are aware of the attitude of this guide (and possibly his company). A very rude and arrogant man, completely opposite to everyone else we have met in Whistler and beyond.
The positives are:- the 15 mile route was mainly off road and excellent. the bikes were fairly new and excellent.
Clearly, the tour should have been cancelled if the guide wasn’t feeling well. There are plenty other cycle tours in the area so I’d suggest to shop elsewhere if you are thinking of a tour.

Read moreI have put some thought into my experience and edited my review...
My wife and I signed up for ebikes. Everything was good till she tried and was unable to ride the bikes. The staff encouraged her not to go if she feels unsafe without letting us know there is no refunds or compromise. There were no smaller ebikes catering to shorter customers. I went to the ride while my wife waited. I asked about my situation and he's remark was "if she grew a few inches overnight, she can ride tomorrow" and "I was here" and offered a gift card option via email, which I didn't not receive.
The overall experience for myself was ok. My lower rating is due to: 1. The staff took us to a route that he had personal business, we needed to wait for him to finish before continuing. Does that mean he should give us a discount on the ride for taking up our time? 2. The staff was inconsiderate of his customers and didn't give us all the options beforehand. One of his customer clearly got left behind during the ride and he only slowed down, but not stop to wait. The customer had to rush back in line. His two ring policy to call out for help did not seem to matter. 3. The business model is flawed and does not cater to the customers. Their model feels like "too bad for you and we don't care". I would suggest a non-refundable deposit first and charging after the customers are ok to ride. There is no reason for them to charge full price without providing the experience. Their only offer is you can ride again if there are spots. This adds no cost to them, but if customers don't ride, it's a gain for them and they don't care. This is quite upsetting for me.
I would only recommend this to more older, experienced bike riders and not new to bikes. Also make sure you are tall enough and comfortable enough to ride a heavier bike or else you are out of luck and you will be...
Read moreIt was an awesome experience! Our first time on e-bikes and we had a great guide, Paddy, who showed and explained a lot around and about Whistler.
HOWEVER, these bikes are bigger and much heavier than the old bikes we are used to. Be sure you can handle them. One of our riders was not able to. Even though she passed their height requirement, the bike was too large and heavy for her and she fell three times just trying to get it going in their driveway. She was not able to go on the ride. And even though the cancellation was because of equipment and not for a personal reason, the company would not give her a refund. My advice? Go check out the bikes in person if you are not sure about handling one of them. Or if you have any reservations, don’t try it.
ADDING TO MY REVIEW…this company’s owner, Ash, added a reply, below, to my review. Guess he didn’t like it. I want to correct some of his statements. FIRST our friend who didn’t make the ride certainly does know how to ride a bike. Ash wasn’t out there watching the rider trying to handle her very heavy bike. It’s a different vehicle than what we were all raised on and there should be some mention about that before someone signs up. Because there will never be a refund, not even when the equipment is not suitable for the rider. Offer smaller bikes! NEXT…Ash did say he emailed a gift certificate to us instead. However, it has never arrived, despite my mentioning that to him three times in our email exchanges. And it won’t do any good anyway because we live...
