I just left this place and i wish i never entered. The waiter with the green hair treated me like a dog. When i asked if i could wait for a table he orderded me: Fuera!!!!! Poiting at the street as if he was talking to a stray dog. Unfortunately I decided to remain. When he attended me i asked for white bread instead of walnut bread, as I am allergic to nuts and he said NO!!! I had to point at a closeby table showing that they had white bread, and he told me i would get extra charged for that. Ok. Then i tried to ask for the ingredients in the palta as I'm allergic to nuts and seeds and he just shut me up saying: americano or cappuccino? That happened twice, until i politely informed him that i needed to know the ingredients of the foods or i could end up in the hospital. After that i asked for a coffee with cold milk and again he rudely said that I would get extracharged for the modifications. I asked him how i could be extra charged, if they selled espresso and cappuccino (coffee with milk) i just wanted the milk to be cold.... again, very rudely he said that all modifications would be extra charged. The problem was not the extra charge for me, but the horrible manners he used. I wish I would have listened to my feelings and left. I just felt very unwelcomed the whole time, coffee is not good, food was horrible, the melon juice was nice. I ended up paying a lot of money for a...
Read moreI’ll give it a 4 for the atmosphere and coffee, but it was a really odd experience for me. The names of the cakes on the menu are not all self-explanatory (e.g., Torta amor). I asked the waiter about one of them, as I wanted something a bit more fresh and that seemed so, as it had raspberries. The waiter said it’s not fresh (without explaining anything). So I asked what he would recommend, but before I finished my phrase, he already said ‘lemon cake’. I apologised and said I don’t like lemon cake, and again, before I finished my phrase, he said ‘then I won’t say anything. You choose’, acting as if I had offended him. I asked him again to tell me what are the other options, but again, he said he wouldn’t, and that I’d have to choose. Anyway, I had the cake and an americano, and luckily from there on a different waiter attended me. It’s a pity there are such characters ruining the place, as it could be a...
Read moreI'm an American looking to expatriate, fed up with the political and social structure in my homeland.
During my exploratory travels I visited Chile and loved Valparaiso. I rarely eat multiple times at one place, trying to experience as much as possible, but Cafe Entre Cerros was so good that I ate there three times in two days. Everything was perfect and the service was exceptionally pleasant and interesting.
Especially outstanding were a seared octopus dish and a grilled beef masterpiece that far outdid anything I've had in my home of Texas, known for beef.
I love Chile and her food. The scenery is fantastic, the view of the Milky Way is much better than in the N. Hemisphere, and both standard and cost of living is wonderful. This cafe might actually be a factor in my decision on...
