Visited Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street during my Chongqing trip and found it to be the bustling heart of the city. The area is a mix of modern skyscrapers, shopping malls, and local street vendors, making it a vibrant spot for both shopping and sightseeing. It’s a great place to experience the city’s energy, especially in the evening when the lights come alive.
Walking along the street, you’ll find a mix of international brands, local shops, and eateries. While it’s very tourist-friendly, it still captures some local flavor in the small alleys branching off the main street. Street performers and neon signs add a lively atmosphere, perfect for photos.
A few tips: it can get very crowded, so be prepared for a busy stroll. Also, while food options abound, many are aimed at tourists, so local recommendations are better if you’re looking for authentic Chongqing cuisine.

Read moreVery vibrant, very beautiful and especially at night, it makes you feel like you have been transported out of China. The whole pedestrian street is lit up and filled with throngs of people because it's such an icon of Chongqing. It's the place you can find all the branded and luxury goods, some of Chongqing's nicest malls and lots of international and high-end brands.
The Jiefangbei monument is a must-see for Chongqing, and the fact that it's located right in the middle of the square is a great reminder of all the sacrifices that have been made and lives that were lost in order to make this hustle and bustle and vibrancy possible.
Just that for all the hype, it was a a tiny little bit disappointing for me as i felt that most people were just there to take photos with the monument and surrounding high rise buildings (nice photo for sure) and it was really really crowded!
