PROS- 1. Very good location, close to restaurants and 5-6 large food courts 2. Very helpful staff especially the front desk lady Man Man who checked us in. She messaged us daily to check if everything was ok or if we needed any extra water or fruits. Limited English spoken. Cleaning staff very honest, actually left a 10 yuan tip for her but she did not take. Had to actually physically stuff the note into the cleaners pocket in Mercure Chengdu. 3. The laundry room with 4 washers and 4 dryers, though was tiny, was very convenient and free. There was also a large space for you to air dry your clothes or to use the two dryer closet. 4. Free breakfast, heavily Chinese but I found it adequate. CONS- 1. Hotel is definitely not a4 stars maybe 2-3 stars and is situated in a building that housed maybe 3-4 other 2 star hotels but on different floors. The lift had no keycard security so I can actually access any floor I wanted and the lifts were very old and slow maybe partly due to the heavy traffic as well. My guess is that this hotel actually was part of a shopping center in the past. The empty shopping shop lots and floors have now been partly converted into smaller hotels 2. Hotel had very small reception area, shares it with other hotel reception, Rezen Select hotels and another and a travel agency. No toilets in the reception area floor. 3. Hotel is old and worn. The signs are tired and the carpets faded and stained, one Mercure sign was missing in the reception wall but the shadow outline remained. This may be the worst Mercure hotel I have stayed in. 3. The room I booked was a Deluxe which from the photos I assumed were the newer renovated rooms. Infact the opposite, the carpet and walls were worn, faded and stained. I actually could not believe this was a Mercure. The first room assigned 1717 was old and in a bad condition and had small plastic wrapper on the carpet and the aircon flooded the floor and table. Was quickly assigned to a newer room 1917 which was slightly better but still old and tired. I had to ring Accor Group to confirm that this hotel was part of the Accor Group. CONCLUSION- not a bad hotel in a good location with friendly and helpful staff but don't overpay, there are newer better value hotels around and definitely not a 4 star hotel, maybe 2-3 stars.

小玫,served us well during check in. The one person with broad smiles that we have met in 7 days tour. Friendly yet humble that made the check in smooth and easy after the much congested travel to the hotel due to road closure and human traffic congestion. Keep upbthe good work.

DO NOT stay on the upper floors as the lifts take ages and always full during peak hours. Clean but dated rooms, wide spread simple local breakfast, staff very enthusiastic and helpful

We booked this hotel as it is in a great location at the start of the walking street and I am an Accor member. This hotel is in the same building as another hotel and the two reception desks are on either side of the same entrance hall, something I've never seen before. While I appreciate the hotel is new and staff are still finding their feet, the level of service we received was abysmal. We arrived at 3pm to be told that they had not rooms ready because they were busy and twin rooms were scarce. We were advised by reception that it'd be 15mins or so to prepare the room. I booked this room one month in advice, on Accor's own website, and the Mercure chongqing's own policy for check in is from 12pm onwards. We were speechless. To make it worse, they stated that they were busy as the hotel was full, but while we were at reception we witnessed a person change rooms 3 times as he wasn't happy with his room. We were exhausted when we arrived at the hotel and just wanted to get to our room. But they obviously are not able to deal with foreign guests as 4 people spent 20mins flipping back and forth through our passports and repeatedly putting our passports in the scanner. I was just happy that it came back in one piece. The room we had was comfortable. the partial view was nice from the 31st floor. There is no security that we could see at the hotel and anyone could come up the lifts. We tried to use the Wi-Fi. As with other Chinese Accor hotels, the login page had the Chinese page where a code is required with a Chinese mobile, and an English page where you could just enter your room number and name. At this hotel, the English login would other work, and when we asked reception they simply said the English page will not work and one of them said we could use his mobile number... We didn't have breakfast as no one told us which floor the restaurant was on or what time breakfast was. (keeping in mind there were 2 hotels together across 35 floors with no signs anywhere). Overall do not recommend for anyone...

A Gem in the Heart of Chongqing Nestled in the vibrant heart of Chongqing, Mercure Jiefangbei offers an exceptional location that places guests right in the midst of a bustling street filled with an array of delightful food vendors. This prime setting makes it an ideal choice for travelers eager to explore the local culinary scene. Upon entering the hotel, guests are greeted by spacious rooms that provide a comfortable retreat after a day of exploration. The rooms are well-appointed with high-quality toiletries, including shampoo, body wash, conditioner, lotion, and hand wash. Additional amenities such as slippers, a fridge, a hairdryer, and tissues ensure a convenient and pleasant stay. A unique feature of Mercure Jiefangbei is the laundry room located on the 14th floor, equipped with four washers and four dryers. This facility is perfect for guests who need to refresh their wardrobe during their stay. The room also offers other types of dryers, along with paper bags and mineral water for those waiting for their laundry. The hotel’s afternoon tea service is a delightful experience, offering a variety of treats. Guests can enjoy small mochi and yogurt one day, followed by small egg tarts with yogurt the next. These thoughtful touches add to the overall charm of the hotel. Breakfast at Mercure Jiefangbei predominantly features Chinese-style options, with highlights including the Chongqing xiao mian, expertly prepared by a friendly aunty, and soft, tiny cakes that are a treat to the palate. On the final day of my stay, the air conditioning in my room malfunctioned. The hotel staff promptly offered to move me to another room, demonstrating their commitment to guest satisfaction. However, as I was checking out soon, I chose to remain in my room. In summary, Mercure Jiefangbei is a wonderful hotel that combines a superb location with excellent amenities and attentive service. Whether you're visiting for business or leisure, this hotel provides a welcoming and comfortable base for your...
