There are five main types of traditional chinese operas or Xiqu (or regional styles/types): Beijing Opera(京剧) Yueju or Cantonese Opera (/粤剧) Huangmei Opera(黄梅戏) Ping Opera (評剧), Henan Opera(豫剧). Three Chinese opera types Beijing Opera, Yueju and Kunqu have been listed by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage since 2010, 2009 and 2001. Xiqu Centre is purpose-built to provide a state of arts world class performance venue to promote and preserve Chinese opera as one of its mission, so you can expect to see and enjoy these fantastic traditional arts performed by renowned troupes based in hong kong, from China or even from overseas. Depending on the context and scripts, the opera usually incorporate singing, reciting, dancing, and even Kungfu or acrobatics, or special face make-up, with music played by Chinese musical instruments. Performers need to undergo rigorous and long time training.
Although the venue is named Xiqu Centre, there are also other types of performance other than Xiqu, for example, concerts or other performance by overseas artists, subject to venue availability.
Even if you are not interested in music or any performing art at all, you can still come to enjoy Xiqu's unique exterior architectural ingenious design and outward appearance as well as the interior.
If you'd like to learn more about Xiqu, there are free guided tours in english and also mandarin which need your registration in advance. It covers the architectural design features of Xiqu, culture and stories of traditional chinese opera.
You can also enjoy some fine dining in chinese tea house and noodle shop or drinks in the complex.

first time watching thunderstorms, so i did some study and i found the storyline is pretty complex but after three hours performance, the story is actually easy for understanding and my mommy enjoyed a lot haaa, surprised she didn’t feel sleepy during the show haaa, usually she does, the acting is pretty amazing and you can indulge into the story even it’s only a drama, such a good night show haa, you can see the efforts from the whole production
