The Patane Night Watch House (free entry) is a heritage attraction that opened to the public in 2015 just next to the historic Tou Tei Temple on Rua da Palmeira in the Macau Peninsula. It is north of Camoes Garden and open from 10am to 6pm daily (closed on Mondays).
The Patane Night Watch House is a small two room exhibition which pays homage to the communal efforts in centuries past to safeguard local residents from fire and theft.
The practice and need died out with the introduction of proper policing and fire services to Macau but for many centuries, the Night Watch House was an important function for safeguarding early Chinese communities.
This attraction includes wall displays and a handful of display items. Text is in Chinese and Portuguese only. However, building attendant will provide you English text sheet and show you a highlight items within the exhibition area.

文化局介紹,打更是我國古代夜間的一種報時工作,兼具提醒市民防火、防盜作用,但隨著城市的現代化,該行業逐漸消失。沙梨頭更館是本澳碩果僅存的更館建築,也是昔日澳門街區更練(即更夫)活動的見證。
沙梨頭更館內設「澳門的更館」及「更練形象」兩大主題展室:「澳門的更館」展室通過圖文並茂的形式,講述澳門更館歷史和更練條例實施內容,介紹室內陳設及更夫打更報時的方式等,展廳內還陳列獲捐贈的一些與打更相關的用具和物品,例如銅鑼、木梆、水槍、銀哨和更費收據等展品;「更練形象」展室則通過由澳門藝術家創作的更練形象圖以及口述訪談,形象生動地述說昔日更練在社會報時、治安、防火和警示上的職責和貢獻,展室內容豐富精彩。 ...
