Returning again after 7 years brings back memories of my previous stay here.
Rooms are well-maintained though they could do with an upgrade especially with the TVs and obsolete BOSE systems which does not even have Bluetooth functions, rendering it useless in today’s context.
Upon arriving to the hotel, I was assisted by friendly Alex at the front desk and swiftly escorted to the club lounge for check-in by the very hospitable manager Fiona given my Diamond status.
Throughout my stay, service level at the Club Lounge led by Doreen was very good and in particular, Gucci, Ann and Maggie. Gucci and Ann were very engaging, showing keen interest if I was enjoying my stay and my plans for my visit in the city whereas Maggie was always smiley despite the high volume of guests during evening service.
Another staff whom I highly commend is Kate from the lobby bar. Greeting patrons with her cheerful personality, she likewise is highly engaging when there was not much guests around in the afternoon while being the only person on duty when I was there.
One thing which I find strange was the policy of only allowing guests 1 drink at a time during evening cocktails session and you can only order the next one if you have finished your drink. This led to unnecessary wait times during peak periods when I have already finished my drinks and had to wait for staff to notice me in order for me to order another one. Also, for the first time ever, my bag was not delivered to my room nor was I offered assistance after check-in was done in the Club Lounge to be escorted to my room. There were 3 staff at Club lounge desk at the time with no other guests waiting to check in and all I got was a verbal “Thank you” by the male staffer while I lug my bag to the lift lobby.
Breakfast at the main restaurant was a hit or miss affair, options were plentiful and the dim sum choices and noodles station were excellent, but the rest were either normal or not impressive. Service was lukewarm though I must comment that on one occasion where it was close to end of breakfast service time, the staff were already preparing the set up for the lunch service. And despite single guests like myself still sitting at the tables, finishing up the food from the buffet spread, the staff placed the glassware and new utensils on the unoccupied side of my table which I find disturbingly rude as I was still not done with my meal.
Overall, my stay was good though the abovementioned points should be looked into by the management and hopefully I hope to see some changes when I return again....

Read moreI have been staying at the same hotel in Macau, and the Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 team has been exceptional in their dedication. As always, I felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere upon check-in, making me feel right at home. The team at Sofitel Macau pays careful attention to guest preferences and goes above and beyond to create a personalized and perfect stay experience. Even though the team leader, Miss Doreen, was on vacation during my stay, her colleagues communicated internally to ensure thoughtful arrangements for the guests.
Throughout my stay, I deeply felt the care and professionalism of the executive team. The front desk staff Macy & Melsan were friendly and efficient, providing a truly hospitable experience. As part of their environmentally friendly initiatives, the hotel no longer provides single-use plastic bottled water in the rooms and has instead installed a filtered water dispenser. While I appreciate the concept, I personally found the taste of the filtered water somewhat unpleasant, and I would suggest the hotel consider offering alternative options such as large glass bottles of water.
The executive lounge, which now serves breakfast, was a delightful experience. The breakfast offerings were plentiful and exquisite, just as they were before the pandemic, catering to different tastes. During both breakfast and cocktail hours, the service staff Victor and Ann from the executive team frequently checked in with guests to ensure cleanliness of tables and promptly replenished food and beverages, showcasing their attentive and caring approach.
Overall, the executive team at Sofitel Macau has left a lasting impression on me. Their warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail made me feel truly at home. Whether it was Miss Doreen or other team members, they exhibited excellent teamwork and personal qualities. I highly recommend this hotel to Macau travelers seeking high-quality service and a comfortable...
