Pretending there's an aquarium or a fountain in the room because the sound of water flowing - in a room on the 8th floor without an outward facing window - is never quiet. Checking in was bad. The hotel is in the zone where CARS ARE NOT ALLOWED. You'll be schlepping all your luggage in from a block away, then up the stairs. No ramp. Lobby on the 2nd floor. Check in was bad. I bought breakfast. When I enquired about it, the person yelled NO BREAKFAST!!! When I replied that i had purchased it, she looked it up and gave me two pink pieces of paper. Then I had to return downstairs for the wifi code because they didn't give that at check in, either.
The beds are HARD - the mattress is like 90s Yellow Pages. The room has LEDs and mirrors everywhere, It's bright in here when it's supposed to be dark.
The bathroom takes up 40% of the space. If you're looking for a soak-in tub in the middle of the room, this is the place for you. The sink does not have warm water.
Breakfast was fine. I'm about to try the shower for the first time, hope there's hot water there.
Amenities are good, appreciate the water bottles. Location - other than having to haul 2 weeks worth of business wear, PPE, and weekend wear for a block in the rain - is good. You're not in the Bund, you're by the Nanjing shopping malls. I can't say it's charming, but if you like commercial areas? You're golden.
Editing to add that yes, the shower has hot water (the sink - in the middle of the room - still does not. The hotel also no longer has a lounge. You're not getting an adult beverage here, no matter what...
Read moreI booked 4 nights in Dec2023. As it was winter, the entire hotel's aircon cooling system was turned off and switched to heating mode. There is no cooling mode in all the rooms. We were unfamiliar with the aircon settings and this resulted in our room becoming hot as a sauna. We slept on top of our blankets and were drenched in sweat in the middle of the night. Luckily for the 24 hours front desk, we called for help at 2am.They were cheerful and responsive and even sent someone up to our room and brought us a fan to circulate the air.And when an empty room was available the next day, they gave us an upgrade to a larger room with a much better air circulation.Despite paying only a fraction of the price of a big brand hotel (like Hyatt, Marriott or ), the service we received at JinJiang is on par or better. All the staff speak English and are attentive and eager to please. If things go wrong, let them know and give them a chance to rectify. I highly recommend this hotel for the excellent location and impeccable service. Thank you JinJiang Metropolo hotel for making my stay in Shanghai so enjoyable despite having almost no sleep the first two nights. All your staff from the front desk, doorman, bar waiter and room attendant scored very high marks! Great job! Special thanks to 小雷 for helping us with the aircon and room...
Read moreI made the right choice of booking this hotel. Location is great, near the Bund , right in front of the famous Nanjing Road and short walking distance to the Metro station Line 2 that gets you to everywhere. They served good breakfast . On our last day, they go the extra mile to give us an additional breakfast voucher for free as we only have one left. Really appreciate this nice gesture. The bedroom that we booked is spacious, and modern. They give us the room looking towards the backyard which is quiet. The cleaner comes and tidy up our bed and change our towels every day. The bed is comfortable except for the pillow, it is a bit too soft but we still managed to sleep well as most of the night we were already very tired after a long day walk. One thing that really stands out for me is they provide free bottle water in the room everyday and you can also take extra from the hallway on every floor. They are very generous indeed and I don’t see this service even in a 5 star hotel. Great Job!The only improvement I would say is the layout of the reception area at level 2. The reception lobby and cleanliness , too many things lying on the reception table makes it untidy. When you checked in, it gives you a different impression altogether. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and will certainly...
