Bar Rouge — Restaurant in Shanghai

Good area for expats to go for a drink and enjoy the view. Good atmosphere and great design with rooftop bar to see across the lake. Close very early ( as with everywhere on a Sunday night in Shanghai). But be careful of wondering locals downstairs offering other "bars" and "KTV" open til late. They are placed there to trick you and steal your money as a easy expat target. Beware of a dude called Bahama. Chinese 6'2" guy behind the streets of Bar Rouge. Upscale. Red lighting ambience, wall posters are sexy/erotic. Drinks are expensive but match the atmosphere. Outside lounge area view excellent view over bund. Really killer view. Went at night. Even when it's raining you can sit just under the roof and look outside (no glass or wall). We had 1 drink and the moved on because we wanted to see multiple places. Although it's not the highesst, but it's definitely my favourite rooftop bar in Shanghai. Nice atmosphere with a great view on Pudong Skyline. Nice DJ sets and many expats there to spend time with. Parties are unforgettable there. Also, visiting the bar give you a chance to enjoy the history of Shanghai Golden Era, as it is located in the Chartered Bank Building building.
