Zhang Garden (or Zhang Yuan) is a new landmark in Shanghai. It is located in the key area of Nanjing West Road Conservation Area in Jingan District that have an excellent historical building conservation community.

The garden was once a famous private garden, and then developed into a Shikumen-style neighbourhood, and its historical evolution reflects the human history of the changes in the urban style of Shanghai and even modern China. It can be said to be a physical specimen of reflecting Shanghai's memory facets.

Zhang Garden has transformed and integrated business, travel, and culture all at one place to promote business and enhancing cultural characteristics of the city.

We were walking around the area after our visit to the nearby Starbucks Reserve Roastery and dinner and the place was beautiful with the colourful lightings. We loved the small lanes with shophouses on the side and we did feel a close assimilation to the cities in Europe, especially during Christmas...
