An interesting thing to see in Taipa is the Four Faced Buddha monument located in the pedestrian area straddled by Estrada Governor Albano de Oliveira in Taipa Village. It is just in front of the Grandview Hotel and across the street from the Macau Jockey Club building.
What you find here is a Thai style shrine that is an open structure covered by an ornamental multi-tiered roof. In the centre is resting a gilded Buddha figure with four faces, one looking in each direction. At the corners of the square shaped monument are golden elephants. Other decorative elements of the monument can be viewed well from all sides.
In the end, this is a peculiar shrine to see in Macau, something quite different to the normal Chinese style temples, shrines and Catholic churches scattered around the city.
