Visiting the Dubrovnik City Walls is undoubtedly a must-do activity when in Dubrovnik, primarily for the breathtaking views they offer. The panoramic vistas of the Old Town and the Adriatic Sea are truly spectacular, making the walk along the walls a memorable experience.
However, the entrance fee of 35 Euros per person is exorbitant and feels like a blatant tourist trap. While it's understandable that maintaining and preserving these historic walls comes at a cost, the price seems disproportionately high compared to other attractions in the city.
Despite the steep cost, the City Walls are a significant part of Dubrovnik's history and offer a unique perspective of the city. The walls are well-maintained, and the walk itself is not too strenuous, making it accessible to most visitors.
It's important to note that the walls can get quite crowded during peak tourist seasons, which can slightly diminish the experience. It's recommended to visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the largest crowds and the midday heat.
In terms of the overall experience, the Dubrovnik City Walls are a mixed bag. The views are undeniably stunning and provide a memorable way to explore the city's history and architecture. However, the exorbitant entrance fee leaves a sour taste and makes it feel like a tourist trap.
If you're visiting Dubrovnik and can afford the steep cost, the City Walls are still worth experiencing for the incredible views. However, it's important to be aware of the price beforehand and weigh it against your budget and priorities.
In summary, the Dubrovnik City Walls offer breathtaking views and a unique perspective of the city, but the high entrance fee feels like an overpriced tourist trap. If you can justify the cost, it's a memorable experience, but be prepared for crowds and a significant dent in your...
Read moreWe entered the wall near 360 restaurant (old harbour). After we walked one circle we were told by the security staff to exit the wall. We didn’t want to. We have bought a regular day ticket for one admission. There is no information on the ticket or the website or everywhere else, that we can walk only one circle. We wanted to see the sunset from the highest point. Security staff didn’t let us go there again. You can not walk back. Only in one direction walking on the wall. We argued with the security staff for a long long time. Staff got rude and offensive as we didn’t want to leave. We called the police. The officer said: I can not help you so far. Solve it with someone from the management. We talked with a man in the entrance ticket office (near 360 restaurant) on the phone for 5 minutes. He finally got offensive too. No chance for a solution. Main Office of the wall was closed because it was Saturday evening.
It’s absolutely ridiculous to pay 35€, walk around one circle, and then a “must exit”. One admission written on the ticket doesn’t mean „walk only one circle“. When you enter the wall at the city entrance you can walk 1,5 circles, as there is no ticket control on top the wall.
As we have Croatian friends, we will think about legal steps. This rip off procedure...
