First let me note that this is a 550 Euro per night type of experience. The Hotel advertises 6 stars. I don't know where to start with my review, so I will start with the receptionist that led us to the room and couldn't work the lights at first. Anyway, that was just funny. She gave us the tour of the room and left. This was a work day for us, so we wanted to connect to the wifi that the room advertises. That didn't work on any of our devices. Then we wanted to try to connect our laptop to the wired connection that appeared to be available in the computer cabinet. The wire to connect provided had about 15 cm, so wasn't really meant to be used as a connection, just a joke, I think. While trying to connect to the wifi I figured I would make some coffee or tea, so I started looking for the minibar price list and notepad to write what we'll have. Couldn't find either. I also couldn't find any tea or milk for that matter, so I guess this room is only for people who like espresso sans milk. We called the reception to report the wifi problem and the missing price list of the minibar. The reception sent an IT guy up to fix the problem. He restarted the router and fixed the wifi. Shame we never learned the prices of the drinks in the mini bar. After handing around for about an hour or so we left for dinner without touching the mini bar and with a bit of bitter disappointment that the reception couldn't send the price list up and a free drink with it apologizing for these inconveniences. We didn't opt for the dinner in the Tower restaurant as we have had dinner there before and there are other places in the neighborhood that offer great food and service. ||The bathroom deserves its own paragraph. The bathroom mirror has an incorporated TV, kind of fancy, but the mirror is maybe therefore very dark and definitely not practical for doing your make up. The soap dispenser was broken and the soap didn't come out, also something you'd not expect in a 6 star hotel. Once you are done with your bath and you want to hang the bathrobe, you'll find there is no hook to hang it on. Oh well, I guess you are suppose to throw the robe on the floor... If you want to charge your phone and you find a socket - it's either hidden behind a huge flower vase or you have to unplug some of the other devices (lamp or the like), so for all the designer stuff that it advertises, the architect didn't think of practicalities like hooks or sockets. ||On the other hand the walk in wardrobe is huge, so if you are a ball room dancer you can happily hang all your gowns there and maybe have a dance of Waltz around them while being able to adjust the temperature in the wardrobe! Smashing! ||The room was decorated with flowers, half of which were real and half of which were plastic, which kind of corresponds with the view of the cemetery, I guess :)||Yeah, last but not least, the view... it is a nice view, because you are so up high, but even a tourist must think that the view that they paid for should be of the Prague sights - the Castle or some nice church or the like, not the old telephone switchboard building, the cemetery or the industrial train station. The Tower itself has some spectacular views, but those are from the restaurant which is on the other side. I guess you are suppose to enjoy those at the breakfast table. ||The breakfast is decent - a choice from the menu. The parking came free with the night. All in all, if this was a night for 150 Euro, I'd say fine. If the One room hotel want to stick with their price list, there is space for...
Read moreSurprised my other half by staying here for one night on his 30th birthday in the middle of our trip to Prague. The hotel emailed me once I had booked to offer additional services such as decorations for occasions. I sent a google image of big ‘30’ balloons which were in the room on arrival however the next day one had deflated and when turning it around to check for damage we noticed it had already been taped over. I assumed having found it already taped that the hotel would discount the price for the balloons however when we checked out they had not. This was easily resolved when I mentioned it and the manager came and removed the decorations from the bill which was nice of them however if I hadn’t asked I would have paid full price. The room itself is absolutely amazing. The view isn’t the best as all the castle etc are round the other side so that you get the good views from the restaurant. The bed is super comfy and the turn down service was a nice surprise. We found the heating system is very noisy and rattled during the night which did wake us a few times. The bathroom is very nice and I enjoyed having a bath whilst being able to see the view due to the divider between the bathroom and the bedroom being glass. There is also a door that opens up and can be pulled across for privacy. The TV/mirror combo in the bathroom is too dark to actually use as a mirror and the TV doesn’t work properly so the whole thing is pointless. The bathroom is a step up from the bedroom which means that as the shower does not have a door the water ran from the shower down the step and into the bedroom soaking the entire floor. Due to the dark mirror I took one of the chairs from the room and did my make up for the evening in the wardrobe. Very spacious walk in wardrobe with great lighting and a thermostat. Plenty of space to store clothes/shoes/handbags however only a few hangers on the rail although that was enough for us. The TV in the bedroom would not link up with my partners phone which was disappointing so we had to use Spotify on the computer to play music as the radio aux lead would not work with the phone either. The champagne and fresh fruit on arrival is a nice touch. The mini bar is very pricey so luckily we had brought our own alcohol which we stored in the fridge. You would think for the price you pay and the fact there is only one room they might have a mini bar that is free of charge however this is not the case. We also had dinner in the Oblaca restaurant which is lovely food however we experienced bad service but this is a review for the hotel so I will review the restaurant separately. The breakfast in the restaurant was very nice and it’s good that it is included with the room and a shame that dinner in the restaurant isn’t included with the room. All in all it was an excellent experience which I am glad we did as it was a nice surprise for my partner. We wouldn’t do it again as we have done it now and it is quite simply over priced. Had there not have been any problems it might have been worth the money I paid but when you’re paying that price you expect everything to be working and for it...
Read moreI have to agree with the previous review by dmcc1973. I booked this hotel as a surprise to my husband for our last night in Prague to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. For all the advertised high-tech features, many of them didn't work or at least we could not figure out how to use them. The thermostat in the room wasn't working, so we had to call down to the desk. They sent-up a technician who then had to go somewhere to turn on the A/C which then ran continuously as it wasn't connecting to the room's thermostat. The in-room PC turned on, but the wireless keyboard and mouse didn't work-we ended-up using our own laptop. The bathroom tv/mirror combo also didn't work and as noted by dmcc1973, the tv/mirror combo made the mirror useless for doing hair or makeup. The glassed in shower is beautiful to look at, but it leaks water into the rest of the rest of the bathroom. For a 5 star hotel, you are only given two bath towels and two face towels and two bathrobes-no hooks to hang anything on and no bath mat for the floor to sop-up the extra water. A couple of extra bath towels as standard issue for this room would be nice! The items in the mini-bar were great quality but too pricey for our usage. We bought our own bottle of champagne which we did store in the in-room fridge. The flowers in the room were half artificial and half real, but the real flowers on the table were all wilted-NOT what you'd expect for $600 a night! We did eat at the observatory restaurant which had a lovely view of the castle at sun-set, but that was after we were first seated in the corner overlooking the side of the city facing away from the castle and evening sunset (at first our hostess did not realize that we were paying $600 a night as guests). Once she realized her "mistake", she immediately re-seated us at a better table, apologized profusely, and then gave us a voucher for a free drink in the bar. The food and restaurant service was very good and surprisingly well priced. The food was very fresh and homemade, including the pasta. In the morning, we took the hotel shuttle to the airport-again, our driver and the comfort of the limo-van were wonderful, and the price was less than a taxi.||All in all it could have been a wonderful, memorable occasion IF I hadn't broken-out in welts from BED BUG BITES about 4 hours after we left the hotel!! By the time we landed back in the midwest, I was in agony. We have written the manager about the bed bugs but have not had any response to our email. This is most disappointing. As we are frequent travelers to Prague, I had hoped we would return to this special venue for in the future, but now I am too afraid of repeating this painful experience. (Note: my husband and have I traveled internationally 2-3 x per year for the past 20 years and this is the FIRST time we've ever had trouble with...
