OK Lets start with some really good positives. The food was wonderful. It was so tasty, and came out quickly and hot. The location and setting is absolutely beautiful. So chilled out. Lots of swing seats with parasols, sofas and lounge chairs on the grass. It is a really cool chill out spot.
You have to wait to be shown to a seat by the girl at the entrance. She was very very smartly dressed and you could tell by first impressions it was quite an exclusive type of vibe to it. The girl who showed us to a table didnt smile and made no conversation or effort other than the given task of seating customers.
We were handed menus by one of the very smartly dressed servers. We chose some beers (they only do Staropramen 10 and 12 on draft - no bottled beers). The drinks came quickly and they were very well presented, nice glasses right through to some celver ceramic drip plates.
After half an hour we felt hungry and asked for a menu. There was a nice creative selection of food on offer. We chose some side dishes (Roast Potatoes iwth rosemary - yum, baked potatoes with chives and sour cream, nice sourdough bread, and wonderfully chargrilled roast vegetables). The food was absolutely super.
We had to leave soon after so asked for the bill, which when arrived we were totally surpised. Having not spent much attention on prices, and assuming given the surroundings and high class setting and very smartly dressed staff and visitors, we were taken aback when the total came to around 8 Euro. WOW. We were really sorry we did not stay much much longer, drank and eat more.
Only real down side which would be so very very very simple for the management and owners to fix, would be getting the staff to smile, maybe hello, or ask "is everything ok". These are so very basic and simple but the sheer lack of human interaction makes it feel like you are being served by robots.
Miminoo, have your staff smile and poiltely converse, even just a bit of hello, or thank you, and this place will be 5 star excellence.
TO sum up, we will most defintley be back. But guys, please smile, not just on your Facebook...
Read moreAugust 22, 2023. We were in the middle of our birthday evening and this place catched our attention with photos of a nice seating in the garden area. We took a cab through the downtown, glad we found an ideal place for a drink after a nice dinner in my favorite BRUXX. _ Seconds after being seated in the covered part of restaurant by the manager, I noticed an outdoor area from the photos, which we came there for. There were still people sitting and chatting around in the garden. I intended to ask the staff, if we can reside to the garden. I asked the closest man who didn’t seem dressed as the staff, but was acting like one: “ARE YOU THE STAFF?” The waiter: “NO, I’M THE TOURIST AND THERE’S THE DOOR, YOU CAN LEAVE,” he replied to me instead of explaining me, that we can sit in the garden if we want, but they can’t serve us drinks there, because it’s after 10 pm (I had no idea that could be a problem, as the restaurant’s garden is situated in the city park, tens of meters from the street with the residential building on its other side). _ There were three friends with me, who in shock witnessed this conversation. For whatever reason, the waiter disliked me. Maybe I seemed too happy being with my friends outside, and I dared to ask about a place to sit other than we were originaly assigned, instead of being grateful for the opportunity to be in “his” restaurant, bending in front of him for the chance to pay him for his work and drinks... _ “NO, I’M THE TOURIST AND THERE’S THE DOOR, YOU CAN LEAVE.” You only can experience this kind of staff behavior in a few capital cities in the world. Western tourists to Czechia’s Prague complain about this often. The moments you can’t erase from your memory. Essential rudeness and redneckism, masked with elegant exterior design. Žižkov wanna be Miami. It will not be in Czechia, at least not in the upcoming two or three...
Read moreDespite being excited to visit following our former experience, the waiter this time round has made our visit unpleasant I’m afraid. We had limited time ahead of our theatre visit that we made a staff aware upfront yet the waiter was more interested in a blond lady with a huge dog who came around and was seated by the table next to ours. When our order was finally taken unexpected surprise awaited with a first bite of a beef carpaccio that I love very much and order anywhere I visit. However to my surprise they serve it covered in mayonnaise hidden under the rocket!:-( you couldn’t taste the lovely beef over the mayonnaise overpowering taste and although when I finally got the waiter’s attention as he was again occupied by his lady with a dog which is by the way how he introduced her to another colleague of his who came by to greet the lady, I made the waiter aware of the surprise having unexpected ingredient in kind of signature dish however he only passes the chef’s message that’s how they serve it, no suggestion to remove the mayonnaise that I was very clear about that I do NOT eat. At the end, when paying the bill the 20% off we were entitled to as the next door theatre visitors weren’t deducted:-( With sadness it was the most disgusting carpaccio I’ve ever ended up with expected to consume. No one seems to rate into account various food allergies people have nowadays & it might have very serious consequences. Well, next time must read the menu to every little detail to ensure that for instance water doesn’t contain alcohol that would be the very sane absurdity like carpaccio covered in mayonnaise! At least the blond lady with a big dog was nicely taken care of getting very bespoke treatment from “her” / our waiter making...
