absolutely devastating, wanted to have a nice weekend and go see an exhibition of invertebrates and when i saw the state of how they were being kept i was shocked. most animals were living in awful conditions. most bugs were in a petri dish with barely any dirt, even ones which are known for digging their own nests. a crab was in a shallow dish with not even an inch of dirty yellow water and could barely move. there was no regulation of the amount of people that could enter so some children were trying to grab butterflies. there were even boxes as small as a box of matches full of ants (local ants that you could see everywhere!). i felt sick. i went to the greenhouse to see if at least the plants were being taken care of but when i went inside there were about three cockatoos in a cage the size of a toilet stall which looked extremely unkept. the only good experience were the local outside plants and the exhibition of cacti (which is ironic because they are extremely hard to kill) overall extremely disappointed.
