I rarely review but felt I should after an appalling experience here. And also to perhaps warn any other parents considering this cafe to not be fooled by the way it appears to be child-friendly online. In reality it is NOT - we sensed immediately from the staff that they were not happy we had arrived with children, perhaps as they seemed stressed with it being a busy Saturday. We had specifically come to this cafe with two 5-year-olds who were looking forward to interact with the cats. We had spoken to them beforehand about being calm in the cafe and they were being well-behaved; certainly not loud or disruptive. My 15-month-old baby was fascinated by the cats and stroked them very gently. She also had the audacity to briefly cry twice (less than a minute each time and the second time because she got a fright slipping off a seat), and we were rudely asked to leave! After we had already ordered! Spoken to very condescendingly by the waitress, told that this is not a 'herna' (well yes, obviously!) and that we were disturbing customers. She even felt it was ok to compare the baby to a much older child there and explain that they can allow some calm children to stay but not others! It was ridiculous, embarrassing and very poorly handled. We understand that a calm environment is needed for the cats (and presumably your over-sensitive customers?) but I would suggest to the owner that if there is such an issue with small children that you think it's ok to treat customers this way over something so trivial, then perhaps there should be a policy of no children under a certain age - put it online or on the door. Or perhaps set times in the week when small children are actually welcome. Parents would certainly understand and respect such rules given the type of cafe it is! But don't welcome in a family with a pram and small toddler, wait for them to settle in and then throw them out because a baby is acting like a normal baby!! We left angry, with two very disappointed children and will definitely not return, with or...
Read moreI was pretty hyped to hit up this cat cafe, but gotta say, it didn't quite hit the sweet spot. The cats weren't big on human affection, and the service was just meh. Walked in, and most of the cats were snoozing. Even when they woke up, they were playing hard to get. Coffee? Nothing special – I could've whipped up a better brew in my kitchen. The whole vibe didn't match the cozy cat cafe scene I had in mind. Additionally, there was a noticeable and unpleasant odor that made it difficult to breathe. The overall atmosphere didn't match the inviting vibe I had anticipated."
Additional Comments: Gotta admit that the owner's "comeback" to my review was a bit of a letdown. They hit me with a 'can't please everyone' vibe and dropped it in Czech instead of English. It felt like they were saying 'locals only.' Embracing different views would've been nice, as the review only reflects my subjective opinion. A simple 'thanks for sharing' could've smoothed things over. I wanted to share my honest impressions of the experience. While I appreciate that opinions may vary, I stand by my observations and hope to provide constructive feedback. While I respect that not every customer will have the same experience, the dismissive tone and language used in the reply felt unwelcoming. It's crucial for businesses to acknowledge and value diverse perspectives, especially in the hospitality industry.
In my initial review, I mentioned that the cats seemed indifferent to customer interaction, and this contributed to a less-than-ideal experience for me. I understand that cats have their own personalities and moods, but my expectation was based on previous positive experiences in other cat cafes.
I believe that constructive feedback is an opportunity for growth, and my intention is to contribute to the improvement of the overall customer experience. I hope that my comments are taken into consideration, and I genuinely wish the Cat Cafe continued success in providing a positive and inclusive environment for...
Read moreI like this cafe.
I have been here at least 20 times in the past 6 years. I have also worked in the field of rescuing and adopting cats for many years, and can say that the cats are reasonably cared for and, perhaps most importantly, given plenty of space to be high (and away from guests).
So why 3 stars? The owner’s responses.
Arguing with every negative review is unreasonable, even if most negative reviews are unreasonable. Some have valid points. Like the person who says that the coffee is not very good, and expensive for what it is — that is okay! You are a cat cafe. The price should be inflated for average things.
But saying “very few places are as refined as our professional Nespresso” is very, very strange, considering that Nespresso is below average coffee. It shows that you can’t accept any criticism, and are not likely to grow, learn, and get better.
As for service, this attitude is felt in the experience. As a person who enjoys your cafe, I can say that even I and my friends have (sometimes) felt unwelcome there, so your condescending replies make a lot of sense. Hence the 3 star review.
Your rating is high. Relax.
This is not to hurt your business. This is to help you. Because this attitude that you are never wrong can be felt in the service and policies.
Friendly advice: take credit cards and just charge a fee for their use. Or a cash discount for people who want to pay with cash. Unless you really are avoiding taxes, in which case you should really pay your...
