We had a very unpleasant experience with one person inside the church. She began speaking to us in Spanish, telling us that the church is not a museum and that we needed to leave. She also kept making “shh” sounds at us as if we were animals. I felt extremely uncomfortable, especially considering this happened in a sacred place.
As tourists, we genuinely enjoy visiting churches to learn about their architecture, history, and cultural significance. We always approach such visits with respect for the religion and its traditions. In return, we kindly ask to be treated with respect as well.
