Lordi's Square — Attraction in Rovaniemi sub-region

Площадь Лорди привлекает торговым центром «Сампокескус» и историей победы финской хард-рок группы на Евровидении. В 2006 году победу одержала хард-рок группа «Lordi», родиной которой является Рованиеми. Музыкальный коллектив одержал победу за счет эпатажных костюмов (каждый участник был с жуткой маской на лице). Любителям оригинальных сувениров стоит посетить магазин Revontulli — в нем можно приобрести копии костюмов участников музыкальной группы «Lordi». У площади располагается офис туристско-информационного центра, где предлагают катания на повозках, запряженных оленями или собаками. И конечно же домик Санты. В течение года здесь организуются ярмарки фермерской продукции, развлекательные мероприятия, а в марте организуются традиционные оленьи скачки. В период зимних праздников на площади устанавливают главную городскую ёлку и ледовые скульптуры, организуют тематическую рождественскую ярмарку с сувенирами и традиционным угощением. В летнее время площадь уже не выглядит так празднично и фотогенично. В отзывах многие туристы называют ее серой и скучной. Единственное, чем можно заняться здесь летом — это шопинг. Small fairground, pedestrian street. There are many souvenir shops (mostly overpriced), with fast food, cafes and restaurants of different cuisines of the world. Lordi Square attracts with the Sampokeskus shopping center and the history of the victory of the Finnish hard rock band at Eurovision. In 2006, the victory was won by the hard rock band Lordi, whose homeland is Rovaniemi. The musical group won due to outrageous costumes (each participant was with a terrible mask on his face). Fans of original souvenirs should visit the Revontulli store where you can buy copies of the costumes of the members of the Lordi musical group.Near the square is the office of the tourist information center, where they offer rides on carts pulled by deer or dogs. And of course Santa's house. Farm fairs, entertainment events are organized here throughout the year, and traditional reindeer races are organized in March. During the winter holidays, the main city Christmas tree and ice sculptures are set up on the square, and a themed Christmas fair with souvenirs and traditional treats is organized. In the summer, the square no longer looks so festive and photogenic. In the reviews, many tourists call it gray and boring. The only thing you can do here in the summer...

Lordis square is filled with many small businesses/ a supermarket and lots of cafe chains- you are sure to be kept busy and just down the hill from Lordis square is the way to the huge lake which at the time was frozen with ice. It is a 4 min walking distance! The Santa express bus and the bus in general DOES NOT come on time. So please remember to arrive 15 minutes earlier than it is scheduled because they sometimes come before and they just go, they will not wait - you can pay contactless- the Santa express bus is around the corner from Lordis square -...

It a square in central Rovaniemi, Finland. Next to the square are located a shopping centre called Sampokeskus and a small boulevard. There are also various restaurant and cafes located here. The square is especially popular as a venue for various events. There is also a official Santa office located here. Entrance is free but one need to pay for taking photo with Santa. I went there around Christmas and there is a Christmas market selling various Christmas themed items. There is also a skating ring for kids...
