Upea patsas tuomiokirkon kupeessa Brahenpuistossa. Koko alue muutenkin on hieno ja aikamatka menneeseen.

Tarkempi tutkimus paljasti, että patsaan on muotoillut Walter Runeberg ja se on paljastettu vuonna 1888 yli 10 000 katsojan ollessa paikalla. Patsaan mittasuhteet yllättivät, sillä olisin arvellut kokonaiskorkeudeksi noin neljä metriä, mutta sepäs onkin 6,95 metriä - osoittaa sen, että arviointikykyni ei ole ehkä maailmanluokkaa.

Mahtava veistos, jonka kuvaaminen vaatii hieman miettimistä. Ja kuinka ollakaan; aurinko loistaa poissaolollaan aina kun minä...

Ihan hyvä näköispatsas, mutta miksi kirjoitus patsaan jalustassa on vain ruotsiksi. Emme ymmärtäneet siitä mitään. Suomi on kaksikielinen maa ja siksi patsaisiin pitäisi kaivertaa tekstit...
