Hostellerie du Château — Attraction in Colmar-Ribeauvillé

Nice, clean, relatively quiet hotel in, I suspect, a relatively old building, right off the central square in the small village of Eguisheim. The hotel has have a contemporary feel. Our room was a relatively, for France, spacious "superior". The beds were comfortable. The view was a stone wall and the central square.

A few caveats, there is no AC here, they give you a big fan which doesn't help allay the heat much. There is no elevator. Parking is in public lots not far away, 3€/day. Driving thru the winding streets of a tiny village might be difficult for some people, but the village is small. The room we were in had a bathtub that was slippery and difficult to navigate.

These issues though are common to many hotels in olds buildings in Europe, so I wouldn't "ding" this facility for these issues.

Eguisheim is a cute, quiet, timbered house town. A good base if you are driving around the area. Limited restaurant and shopping options in town, but plenty in the area.

We are out of words of our admiration for this small (10 rooms) family run hotel situated in the center of pittoresque Eguisheim next to the chateau and church. Short walking distance to everything in the village. The breakfast was amazing with a small and exclusive selection including the best croissants we have had in Alsace so far. The coffee was good beyond words. Our room was provided with a cooler, which was much appreciated because the room got easily stuffy in the summer heat. However, we found out that simply keeping the windows open was better at cooling (no mosquitos). Large new bathroom topped our experience of a truly amazing hotel.
