BUS CANCELED AT MID NIGHT AT BERCY STATION. ALONE WOMAN AVOIDING RAPE... I took a Flix bus number 700 from London Victoria station on 11th of December at 1pm. I was traveling to Milan and usually you have to change in Paris, wait for the same bus company for few hours to continue your journey to Milan. The problems started at English tunnel, we waited almost 4 hours to enter the tunnel because the tunnel’s door were frozen and wouldn’t open…. After 4 hours waiting we finally make it through the tunnel entering France around 8 pm... Our bus driver from London was French speaking no word of English, while driving international line... While knowing group of us desperately need to meet our connection in Paris, the bus driver stopped the bus for frequent cigarette breaks… We got through to Flix Bus company who promised to wait for us in Paris understanding the horror of weather. Our next bus connection Paris- Milan was N729 bus leaving at 00.30 am and our first bus arrived 00.40 am. We were only 10 minutes late but our next connection left sending us message as we are entering Paris that we will lose our next connection, they have to leave due to ‘further delays’. They said they can cover our hotel room up to 80 euros… They couldn’t wait for us for 10 minutes. We were dumped at Bercy Seine Paris station at mid night, there was no one single staff member to help us with any direction, no any caffe or bar near by, all hotels near by have cheapest room for 170 euros, metro is closed and its heavily snowing. Right next to Bercy station there is a large pitch black park full of homeless people and junkies, but full in every dry corner of it. Its like a city slum. The station is designed so all homeless can invade it as soon as last bus goes, so inside and outside station was literally full of drug addicts and all sort of homeless people hanging around, sleeping on all places where you can sit…
I was woman, alone and I was carrying two severely heavy suitcases full of my expensively made costumes I need for work, laptop and hard drives full of 15 years of composing work on it, wearing nice coat and high heels makes you very much stand out in that crowd. The other 3 travellers who also lost their Milan connection decided to book last minute flight and travel to airport. So we separated and I called friends to find more reasonable solution. While on the phone to them, my phone dies with no warning. Bercy Seine station does not have public phone and doesn’t have phone charging power points or any phone facilities!!!! However, my phone was fully charged, it died not for the battery reasons, it dies completely. My husband and friends no longer can get through to me. I was left with only one solution which is to cross Bercy park at 1 am, alone woman with my heavy suitcases. While having drug addicts locking their eyes on me since I arrived. I took the absolute short cut through the park which was through mud, seeing human bodies everywhere wrapped in sleeping begs on side of park near concert arena next to the park. By the time I arrived to more lit part of the street I was covered in mud. I cleaned my shoes and coat with wet wipes so I look decent before walking into the 5 star hotel reception… I really just needed their internet. Lucky my friends were onto it and I had taxi booked and waiting for me in 5 min. Serious neglect and life threatening experience thanks to flix bus I will report through out all media. No refund or response received from them ever. BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WITH CHEAP TICKETS. YOUR LIFE OR DEAD BODY SHIPPED WILL COST MORE then 80 euros...
Read moreI have used FlixBus on many occasions. But, my last experience with Flixbus was very disappointing. The following incidence happened in Paris(Bercy Seine) to Lyon Perrache (Central Bus Station) Line 719, direction Montélimar. It seemed like a routine travel with the Flixbus, but the toilet was locked and need to request the driver to get the key. Everyone believed it would be a routine practice in Paris to keep the toilet locked. But, later my fellow passenger who was a senior citizen and a tourist to France wanted to use the toilet, driver denied the toilet key saying that he would stop soon and then she can use the public toilet. Even, at that point, no one thought much and believed it would be a routine practice in Paris. When he stopped at a routine halt, the driver asked everyone to get down from the bus and he locked the bus, which was totally unacceptable as many passengers, especially senior citizens were uncomfortable standing in cold and windy weather for 15-20 minutes. My fellow passenger was also aged and did not understand the French language. Later, she told that she cannot use the public toilet, as it had a long waiting queue and she can not run to return back in time to board the bus. In the fear of missing the bus, she did not dare to use the public toilet. When we boarded the bus again, she again requested the driver to use the toilet and driver refused to give the key, which was totally unacceptable. Considering the age and medical condition of that lady, another co-passenger also asked the driver to give the key so she can use the toilet. After a little confront, finally driver reluctantly gave the toilet key. I was disappointed to see that lady who was first time visiting the country and had such a poor treatment in the bus. Even, I was surprised as I have never seen the locked toilet in a Flixbus in any of my other journey with the Flixbus. Another limitation that I have faced is that booking tickets online. Last time, while travelling with Flixbus, I have tried 4 different types of credit cards(Master, Visa, PostFinance, Mastreo) with no success. I even called the Flixbus officer and they suggested to book it from their shop in Zurich. Lastly, I could book my tickets using the paypal account. This was really frustrating and...
Read moreI’m writing this in hopes that it can help others who might have the go through this station. I’ve taken four flexbuses from the Bercy Gare Routière location and the process is usually always a little chaotic, but here are some tips: As others have mentioned, the station is actually under the skatepark area and accessible through the park, but give yourself ample time to find your quai and board. I find usually boarding starts a good fifteen minutes before one is set to depart. If anybody offers to lead you to your bus, it’s a scam. Follow the flow of people with suitcases. The station is busy, loud, a bit sus- similar to the metro. Don’t have anything in your pockets to be stolen, keep your bags close. If the screen with bus announcements isn’t working, you can quickly grab free wifi from the bus to check which queue is yours on the FlixBus website. If you have the misfortune of needing to use the restroom- oof. Our experience with the station bathroom was no door on one of the stalls, no toilet paper, no soap. So bring some Kleenexes with you if you can- or do yourself a favor and hold it until you’re on the bus, they should have a bathroom. If your bag is over the 20kg weight limit, some drivers weight your bag if it’s too large, and charge in euros (seems arbitrary which drivers do) Have 10 euros on you just in case you encounter that- I have no idea if it’s legit, but I sure saw it happen. Or pack light if you can so you don’t get charged. If your bus gets delayed or you have to wait, don’t do it here at the station. It’s smoky and can get cold early in the morning, not to mention a little sketchy - literally walk a five or so blocks to Gare de Bercy. They also have free wifi with SNCF, a little cafe, vending machines, the bathroom is 1 euro but it’s cleaned, and it’s a much safer and more comfortable place to wait, and you can charge your phone if you...
