Vénus de Milo — Attraction in Paris

Probably the second most famous artwork in the Louvre collection after the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo has been standing in the same spot since its discovery 200 years ago from the island of Milos in Greece.

Created by Alexandros of Antioch, this full marble statue has influenced many other artists, such as Salvatore Dali. Since it's discovery, it's been missing its two arms, but it is still well preserved.

En esta imagen busqué contar algo distinto de la Venus de Milo. No simplemente mostrarla de frente, sino capturar la sensación de estar ahí, entre la gente, entre las estatuas, en ese ruido y ese silencio que solo se vive en el Louvre. Me gustaba la idea de poner en primer plano una mano que no es la de ella, como si otras obras quisieran también alcanzarla, tocarla, formar parte de su historia. La Venus queda al fondo, casi perdida entre cuerpos, turistas y fragmentos de mármol, pero sigue brillando con esa belleza eterna que no necesita explicaciones. Esta foto no es solo una imagen: es una forma de mostrar cómo el arte sobrevive a las multitudes, al paso del tiempo y a todo el ruido que lo rodea.
