The enormity of the paintings and art work are very impressive you are immediately taken away to another era. The crowds of pwople are large definitely book your ticket a day before as there is so many people. The ques to see The Mona Lisa itself could be better organized on crowded busy days. Perhaps in single file or lanes and brought a little closer to the masterpiece. The security is good and they try their best at crowd control it gets a bit hectic, but it is well worth it in the end. The painting itself is covered behind a big plastic screen which makes it very difficult to get no reflection from your photos. 100s of years later this painting still leaves people in amazement and wonderment. Well done Leonardo Da Vinci you crafty man.

The most famous painting in this museum boasting with tens of thousands of works of art. Da Vinci's Mona Lisa is what attracts the crowd, and what a crowd it was! There was a queue to get in front and see her up close, but once there, people really took their time to take pictures, so prepare to not get that close to it so easily. Also the painting is quite small, you won't be able to see it unless you get in the queue. Needless to say, if you plan to sit back and enjoy it, better do something else with the time spent waiting in queue (around 10 minutes). It has been in permanent display since 1797! Imagine that.

To find this place is fairly difficult but if you follow the signs and after a few minutes of walking, assuming you will go straight there and not admire any of the other great pieces of art, you can get there. Please note it is in a room entrance that is accessed from the main corridor on the 2nd floor. The Mona Lisa is amongst a great collection of paintings. But she has her own wall. No flash please. There is usually a crowd trying to get the best view or selfie of the artwork .

In some sense, the crowd was more interesting than the painting itself. Everyone (including me) was trying to get to the front row to take a closer look, yet there is a barricade positioned a few meters away from the painting, blocking visitors from getting really close to the painting. At that distance, it was difficult to truly appreciate the painting, I couldn't really see the details even after getting to the front row, and frankly the painting was smaller than I expected. This is different from virtually every other art piece in the museum, where there was usually no barricade blocking me from taking a closer look and appreciating the details, nor were they as crowded. I wouldn't describe the experience as "underwhelming", but if I cannot see this painting the next time I visit the Louvre, let's just say that I would not...

Stand...
