We had a view of Colette Square. The hotel and room are beautiful. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom and room were extremely clean. I loved the tall window letting in natural light. There is a wardrobe and programmable safe in the room. There is also a towel warmer in the bathroom; be careful not to touch what looks like the towel rack because it is hot— that’s the towel warmer. The location is great and easily walkable to the Louvre. I ate at the hotel’s brasserie and accidentally left some things at the table; when I called the hotel desk from my room, they checked the restaurant for me and brought it promptly up. The bar decorated like an atrium looked absolutely adorable but didn’t get to visit it. We were there the week before the US Thanksgiving holiday and the lobby was tastefully decorated for Christmas.
A few things to be aware of: 1. From floor 2 (don’t forget that in Europe they have ground floor then 1st floor), we could hear the low tone rumble of the metro car running on a schedule (the hotel is by the metro station, which is convenient). If you are a light sleeper, this could impact you. 2. The room would get hot between 11:30 pm to 2:30am, even though we set the temp to 67/68 Fahrenheit. After telling the front desk, they quickly brought up a fan to our fan with a fan remote. The next day, we told staff and they said there wasn’t anything wrong with the AC and we set the AC incorrectly. The next night, we were hot about the same time again and woke up and had to turn on the fan (luckily we didn’t return the fan after the first night). Something is wrong with the AC. 3. The bathtub’s bottom is slick. If you have never been in an European hotel, most have a bath tub that is set higher upand this hotel has it. The bath tub is set pretty high off the ground. For a 5’0” gal, the top of the tub is a few inches above my knees, about 1/3 the way up my upper legs. I have to hike my leg up to get into the tub. Not just that, but the tub’s bottom is slick. There are white dots in the tub meant to give you a grip but it isn’t enough to make me feel secure in my footing with getting in and out, and with natural movement of showering, as well as turning to face away from the shower head to wash long hair. So the slickness and tub’s height can feel like I’m taking my life into my hands. The tub is also very narrow, which means the glass is also pretty...
Read moreI cannot praise this hotel enough. From the hotel's wonderfully unique motif to its location to its rooms to its warm, wonderful and thoughtful service - we loved everything about it. I had chosen the hotel because of its proximity to the Louvre and Seine. Little did I know that our room would be looking over Rue de Rivoli and the Louvre - I was absolutely thrilled!!! Within about 20 seconds of exiting the building, we were standing in front of the Louvre's pyramid!
There is also a number 1 Metro stop just outside of the restaurant. We were able to get everywhere on the metro - or we could walk. Honestly, the location could not be better IMHO.
The room: clean, well-equipped, comfortable and yes, a bit small, but it was fine - and QUIET!!! The piece de resistance, though, was the service. most of the staff were incredibly helpful, especially the concierge staff - all of them; about 60% of reception and about 80% of the dining staff. And our room was always cleaned and tidied beautifully.
I wish I'd noted the names of the concierge who helped us when we reported that my husband lost some items while we were out and about. They did everything that we requested to try and locate his things.
We are vegan and I asked Ophelie, one of the maitre d's if the cooked vegetables had been cooked in butter or oil. When she asked the kitchen and they told her that they'd been cooked in butter, they immediately made me a generous plate of the vegetables - cooked in oil. When I asked her if there were a chance of having vegan crepes, not only did the chef comply, every single day, when I would arrive, someone would ask me if I wanted my vegan crepes. I didn't even have to ask ever again. Hugo, one of the wait staff, was ALWAYS warm, friendly and helpful. Again, most of them were. These were the only two whose names I noted - I wish I'd noted more of them.
So one piece of constructive criticism: the bar staff were not nearly as attentive as the rest of the hotel staff. We often had to ask multiple times for our check and a few times, even had to go to the bar to request service. This is the one area in which the quality could be improved.
Otherwise, this could well be the best hotel I have ever stayed in, in terms of its location, its size and definitely...
Read moreUsually I’m a little hesitant to book a historical, large hotel right next to the busiest tourist attraction, but hotel du louvre blew our minds. It was definitely the best stay we’ve ever had in the recent years.
The location of course is amazing. Right next to the museum, close to multiple metro exits, also in the back is a quieter square with some cafes. Shops and malls closeby and within walking distance to a bunch of tourist spots.
The hotel itself is beautiful and very well maintained. From the outside and inside you can’t tell it is an old hotel. The bar is located in the inner glass dome courtyard beautifully decorated and they have many special botanical themed cocktails that look delicious. They also have a restaurant on site That opens earlier than the other local restaurants (most dinner places in paris don’t open until 7pm). They have covered terrace seating that offers a partial view of the museum. The staff at the restaurant were incredible very attentive friendly and makes excellent recommendation for wine and entrées. We ordered the onion soup, Lyonnaise salad along with steak, and all items were delicious. The portions are big too which I was surprised to find.
The check-in process was very smooth and quick. Thomas at the front desk helped us checked-in and offered us an room upgrade. He was incredibly kind and we felt very welcomed.
The view of the room is amazing, overlooking the boulevard that led to the opera house. Given its busy location, you can hear some of the traffic, but we find that it adds to the charm of Paris.
The balcony is big enough to stand in, but no chairs to sit outside. The bathroom is huge, plenty of room to put things. Plush towels, robe, heated hanger, large tub and vanity. The design is white marble makes everything looks elegant without being gaudy.
The hotel gave us a bottle of their homemade lemon soda and a box of madeleines. They are delicious and we are so thankful for their hospitality. As award stay visitors we did not expect to be so well treated.
The hotel really went above and beyond and it convinced me that Hyatt membership is definitely the one to keep among all the other brands.
I don’t think I can stay in any other hotels in Paris after this...
