As you approach the bridge, you'll be greeted by the sight of Georgian writing etched into the ground, adding to the unique cultural experience of the area. The bridge's design is a testament to Georgian engineering, with a sleek, modern appearance that contrasts beautifully with the ancient surroundings.

As you cross the White Bridge, take a moment to appreciate the statue of a boy holding a hat, a tribute to the children who used to play in the river below. The transparent glass on the floor offers a glimpse into the river's depths, creating a sense of awe and wonder that is sure to leave a lasting impression.

The history of the White Bridge is as fascinating as its design. Originally built in the early 19th century, the bridge has undergone many transformations throughout the years, including reconstruction in the 1950s and again in 2010. Today, it stands as a symbol of Kutaisi's resilience and innovation, a bridge between the city's past and future. Don't miss out on the chance to experience this stunning structure for...

We almost missed this great spot that peeks out from under the Tetri “white” Bridge. It’s just at the start of the bridge on the left-side as you cross-over – a small winding stair-case leads you down to the terrace. Be sure to check it out and hope that the exceptionally talented Sax player is in da house. He really is at a level on-par with anything you will find in a world-class city jazz-bar. I sampled the excellent Aubergine and Walnut dish alongside a pork-rib that was a little too rich for my taste but not bad. Here too I had my first “Chacha” – the local spirit that is akin to rocket-fuel. Not for the faint-hearted and best avoided unless there is an ambulance at-hand. You will also discover their idea of a “tot” of alcohol is very generous indeed. The staff are wonderful and friendly, and there is a pleasant view of the Rioni River with the...

The White Bridge stands out as one of the city's main attractions. Constructed in 1850 by the skilled military engineer Vite, this bridge holds a special place in Kutaisi's heritage. Its name, the White Bridge, originated from the decision in 1860 to paint the railings of the bridge in a striking white color. The combination of white stones beneath the bridge, delicate tracery, transparent railings, and a picturesque view of the old town all contribute to a sense of lightness and beauty, which captivates both locals and tourists alike. No visit to Kutaisi would be complete without capturing a photograph on the White Bridge, ideally with the famous "Picasso Boy" sculpture, making it a cherished memento of this...

"A historic bridge that turns a simple stroll into a highlight ✨" The White Bridge is one of the landmarks that gives Kutaisi its charm. Stretching across the river, the bridge itself feels like a piece of art, with plenty of details to take in as you walk across. When we visited in August, the river below was mostly dried up, but the view and the experience of crossing the bridge were still impressive. It is quick to see but definitely worth adding to your stroll through the city. The White Bridge is one of those sights that makes Kutaisi’s center more enjoyable to explore. – Genuine Gems Overview – ⭐ Rating: 5/5 💰 Price Paid: Free 💎 A Genuine Gem? Yes!
