Lovely little part of town the story behind this statue is about a Chicken thief is a fountain monument by the Berlin sculptor Hermann Joachim Pagels , which was unveiled at Aachen 's chicken market at Christmas 1913 . It consists of a bronze figure of a chicken thief mounted on a limestone fountain. The figure shows the moment when the thief is amazed to find that instead of the chicken he has stolen a rooster that crows and thus betrays him. However, the scene embodied in the figure has no historical precedent. During the Second World War in 1943 the figure was melted down . Only the wreath of the water-giving chick figures remained, which was stored as a precaution and thus survived the Easter bombing raid in 1944, during which the fountain bowl was completely destroyed. However, because the then 72-year-old Pagels still had the plaster model of the original figure, he was able to make another cast of the fountain figure in 1950, which was supported by donations from the Aachen Carnival Committee , the Aachener Nachrichten and the Aachener Volkszeitung , other Aachen companies and Aachen citizens from the city ​​was acquired. Die Brauerei Hühnerdieb ist ein echtes Highlight in Aachen. Die Getränke sind ausgesprochen lecker, frisch gezapft und mit viel Geschmack. Ob hauseigenes Bier oder andere Spezialitäten, hier kommt jeder auf seine Kosten. Das Personal ist besonders freundlich und aufmerksam. Man fühlt sich sofort willkommen und gut betreut. Auch das Essen überzeugt auf ganzer Linie. Die Gerichte sind mit Liebe zubereitet und schmecken hervorragend. Deftig oder fein, für jeden ist etwas dabei. Ein rundum gelungener Besuch. Ich komme gerne wieder.

Lovely location, there are check in machines and the place is cozy. The room we got was a bit small but otherwise it was good. Would recommend to anyone who wants to walk around the city center without needing to take a bus or a car. There is a parking lot near by. There are also restaurants very close...
