I stayed here with my wife and two children [we had two rooms]. This is an excellent hotel. The location is superb - it's a 30 minute amble through Tiergarten to the Brandenburg Gate or, if you prefer, there is a bus service within a minute's walk from the hotel. You are also usually within a minute of ordering Taxis with companies such as Uber. Oh and the 'Hop On, Hop Off Bus stops here too' There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the vicinity too. On arrival we used the self service check-in which was very easy to use and convenient [you are also given the opportunity to check-in online before your arrival]. The bedrooms were immaculately clean as were the bathrooms. The shower is very powerful and perfect to use. I was a little disappointed that there were no coffee or tea making facilities in the rooms that we stayed in so had to use the self service shop to purchase our coffees [at 3.50 each!!!!]. However, this was a minor inconvenience. The self-service shop stocks a lot of goods from alcohol to toiletries and, as you can expect, is a little bit more expensive than going to a supermarket. However, its convenience was very good. The gym seemed to have the usual equipment you'd expect to find in a gym and was very clean. The bar has a good atmosphere but the staff could be a little more attentive. The downside to using the bar is the way they insist on you paying for your drinks - I don't know if it was just me but every time I ordered via a QR code I would select my drinks, select to purchase and would then have to go through my banking app then back to the purchase page to finally make the purchase. This was an incredibly frustrating process and would probably have used the bar more often if there was a better way to pay. The breakfast here at the hotel is amazing! The choices are out of this world and everything is fresh. This is something the hotel has absolutely got right. However, if like us you didn't add breakfast to your initial booking you can pay via card - this was impossible with my card and my wife's card. We bank with Barclays and the card simply would not work - they use a company called Lightspeed [ironically] to collect their payments and on speaking with my bank they said that the issue was with the Merchant [Hotel Berlin]. The young man did take our cash in the end which eased our embarrassment. You also cannot charge the breakfast or drinks to your room. Most of the staff are very friendly and seemed polite - particularly those that cleaned rooms. As some people have already stated; the WiFi isn't very good but I believe they are looking into this issue. Would I come back to stay at Hotel...

First of all, the internet is the absolute worst. Think dial-up. I couldn't even open a pdf at times. When I asked if there was as solution they gave me a passcode to an equally bad wi-fi that just caused more trouble. I spent a hundred dollars topping off my SIM card data in my two week stay. Second, in order to have lights on, you must put your key card in a slot. I get that they want to say the environment, but you won't be able to charge anything while you are gone - camera, computer, tablet, or whatever. I asked for a second card, but then the cleaning staff makes sure the card is out of the slot while you are gone, so the secret would be to not have your room cleaned if you want to stay charged - all inconvenient if you are here working. Oh, and the fridge won't work either, so that food I bought? Yeah. Gone bad. Third, the restaurant. The decor is great. The service - is all through your phone, so combine that with the bad Internet and you have a disaster. Plus orders get mixed and go to the wrong table. The poor staff. The stress on these people is so obvious. And, every time you order something, if you are from overseas, you will have to go through the verification process with your credit card each time (second beer? No thanks). If you want to invite people for a drink or dinner, you have to pass your phone and its germs around and make everyone uncomfortable about ordering on your phone. Fourth, careful what you book - I booked through Delta and the hotel staff told me my room didn't have coffee. I bought expensive coffee every morning until one day I saw coffee on the cleaning staff carts. When I asked the front desk about coffee in my room, the woman was so insanely rude. First she said, "Well, did you tell anyone you didn't have coffee?" No. I thought the rooms just didn't come with coffee. I'm telling you now. Then she informed me I had an inferior room. So I bought coffee every morning, and every morning another woman would remind me to pay. This, too is self service. This place could be great. The location is good here and its easy to get around, but they won't get my business again. One more note - the front desk staff shouldn't have to police people about purchases. I may have purchased my coffee but I watched plenty of big purchases go unpaid. But I guess that loss is cheaper than paying people to give...
Read moreWe recently stayed at Hotel Berlin, Berlin for a short stay. We arrived around 1pm to check in. Check in was self serve. This is disappointing. It’s not faster or more convenient. If you haven’t booked directly with the hotel or Radisson you won’t have the correct reservation number so you won’t be able to check yourself in. There was a roving attendant that o ly comes to assist when they see some distress or confusion. Once advised of our resivervation number that the hotel uses the attendant left us to continue check in. No advise was given about breakfast time, its location, check out time or other hotel services. Only directed to the correct lifts after we had activated our own room keys.
Room was large and modern and kept very neatly. Our given room was very far from the lifts we were told to use as this hotel is two buildings joined together in the hallways, our room was actually closer to the other buildings lifts which would have been much easier and quicker to use. The windows do not do much for noise but kept the room at a comfortable temperature. It appeared the exhaust fan in the bathroom was not suited and didn’t do its job very well.
House keeping was swift on most days but one two of the days our in room coffee/sugar/creamer was not replaced or the cuts washed.
Amenities such as shampoo and hand wash were pump bottles with none other supplied.
The bed was not ideal as the thin mattress, while comfortable, didn’t stay on the bed base very well and kept sliding off to the side. It was almost like its miss sized for the base.
The sauna gym area seemed to be in a state of disarray almost every day we were there. It’s accessible via your room key card however there is signage advising you to call the front desk to arrange use of the sauna. If the facility is accessible at any time by any guests it should be checked regularly for cleanliness and tidiness but it seems this doesn’t happen.
The breakfast was very good. The restaurant was well presented and look modern. The food was served neatly and look very appealing. There were ole Ty of staff around to keep it clean and tidy even though it was crowded each day we were there.
Check out was also self serve which wasn’t as hard and bags are able to be left and stored for later collection if need be.
Well located only a 5 minute walk from public transport as well as local restaurants.
I would stay here again due to the room size and quality, breakfast selection and location. It was also priced...
