I am currently staying at Titanic Gendarmenmarkt Berlin and wanted to share my experience thus far. While certain aspects of my visit have been enjoyable, I have encountered a significant issue that has caused me stress, frustration, and deep disappointment.
Firstly, I must acknowledge the excellent breakfast provided by Titanic Gendarmenmarkt Berlin. The quality of the food and the variety of options have exceeded my expectations. The breakfast staff has been friendly and attentive, contributing to a positive dining experience.
However, I recently faced a major issue with the communication and handling of additional charges. Specifically, I requested assistance with laundry services and was directed to leave my bag in front of my room door. To my surprise, I received a bill for the laundry service, without being informed in advance about the associated costs.
When I raised this concern with the staff, including the manager and reception, their response was deeply unsatisfactory. Their attitude was dismissive, and they displayed a lack of cooperation. This alone was disheartening, but the situation escalated when the manager made an inappropriate and offensive remark. The manager stated, "You can kill a person without knowing it is illegal, but still, it is illegal." This statement was not only irrelevant to the issue at hand, but it also demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism and empathy. It became evident to me that further attempts to communicate and find a resolution would be futile.
As a guest, I believe that respectful and supportive interactions with hotel staff are fundamental to a positive experience. The inappropriate comment made by the manager not only added to my disappointment but also made it clear that there was no point in continuing the conversation.
Additionally, the lack of clarity and communication regarding the additional charges for the laundry service is disappointing. It is essential for Titanic Gendarmenmarkt Berlin to ensure that guests are well-informed about all costs associated with their services. Transparency and open communication are paramount to avoid misunderstandings and prevent guest dissatisfaction.
The way in which the manager and staff interacted with me has significantly impacted my overall impression of Titanic Gendarmenmarkt Berlin. I believe that a hotel's success is not solely dependent on the quality of its amenities but also on the professionalism, courtesy, and helpfulness of its staff.
I hope that Titanic Gendarmenmarkt Berlin takes this feedback seriously and addresses the issues I have highlighted. Improving staff training in customer service, communication, and conflict resolution is necessary to ensure a more positive and enjoyable experience for future guests. The inappropriate comment made by the manager should be taken as a serious concern and addressed...
Read moreThe hotel is definitely not 5 stars. Our room was extremely hot as we entered and had a terrible sewage smell. We aired with open windows but it would not help. We complained and instead of offering us a new room the service arrived and added some air freshener to the bathroom - the room stunk again rather quickly. The floor was dirty in the room with a lot of dust in huge chunks. There were also stains on the walls. The fridge was overheating on the outside that the whole cabinet was extremely hot on the sides and on the top - making that part of the room very hot. The service came to check and only said it’s cold inside so it’s fine. There is no coffee machine in the room, just instant coffee - not what you expect from a 5 star hotel. (Tea was ok though.) Cups in the room are ridiculously small. The body cream bottle had very odd white chunks in the cream that my skin was left with white particles. I had trouble washing them out next shower. The mattress was not new, it felt very sunk in and was not comfortable for me. I called reception to find out how to get to the spa and was given totally unhelpful instructions that it took me over 15 minutes to find it. The spa to use steam room and sauna closes at 9:30pm, very unhandy time, never seen such early closing time anywhere before. Certainly not at a 5 star hotel.
Only advantages - The location is good. The lobby area looks pretty. The spa is quite good - but has unhandy opening times - only until 9.30pm. Our room had a view but that did not compensate for the stench.
I locked all my valuables in the safe so luckily everything was still there. The “do not disturb” button was ignored and I was interrupted while in...
Read moreNot happy at all. I was mislead to believe the hotel has a parking. They don't. What they have is a valet service, nice but not what I asked for the two times I specifically called. Car will be driven to a nice parking 200m away. No complimentary water restock after the first night...(it was provided free of charge once I asked). Asking if I get something with my hotels.com reservation when checking in. Front desk staff saying I don't, that he already checked. I don't trust them, so I check and see I do in fact get a 20% discount on spa services... I got my stuff taken to the room, but my second reservation guest was not offered help despite one of them being a 70yr old lady. I carried myself the stuff to the room. Spa had two saunas, the wet one did not work for three days so we couldn't use it. Front desk did not know the name of the parking where they parked my car. I was a bit shocked. They knew where it was but not how it's called. I wanted to pin it in the map so I ended up walking there with a staff member to see where they parked. Their answer? "No worries we park Rolls Royce and Lamborghinis". These people are ridiculous. Not only that, but the night front desk (night of 19/12/23) said the cars are fully insured. Nothing further from the truth when I looked at the valet receipt/paper where policy clearly states is not, which I understand, but why lie then?
Edit: adding one star due to nice staff at breakfast time, spa area and the fact they allowed me to keep the car a bit longer in the garage...
