We went into this place because we wanted to eat a dish with truffles. The dish didn't even smell like truffles! The service was terrible. We asked for still water, they brought it to us with gas. When we pointed out that there were no truffles in the dish and it didn't even smell like them - the waiter began to loudly accuse us that it was our problem and we should have told him. Then he said that the cook was an elderly man and he forgot to put truffles. The problem is not in the truffles, although we were counting on truffles in a restaurant called Il Tartuffo, the problem is in the service and in the rude attitude!! In the end, the waiter, knowing that we did NOT like the service, asked how much we wanted to leave a tip. It's not whether we want it at all, but HOW MUCH, and then he grimaced when he found out that we didn't want to leave a tip for a truffle pizza without truffles (or at least truffle oil) and for the terrible rude service. Go to the nearest Aldi and buy some truffle oil so that at least something is truffle in this place.
I assume that the reviews are inflated, since negative reviews are deleted as slander. But you can't hide the truth! A terrible place.

Read moreIt was a bit difficult to get a table in this popular Italian restaurant. That's for a reason, because the food is really good! You really need to make a reservation in advance. We didn’t, but were lucky to get a table after 20.30. The restaurant is very cosy and there are enough options to choose from. The service on the other hand wasn’t that great. Our waiter was stiff and a bit grumpy. He mainly tried to recommend the dishes of the day and wasn’t interested in us anymore when we opted for the 'standard' pasta dishes with a bottle of wine. We were just not that hungry this time of the evening. The table next to us received their main course while they hadn’t even finished their appetizers yet! They sent it back, but the waiter didn’t offer his apologies and said it was a fault from the kitchen? Anyway our evening wasn’t a success because we didn’t feel very welcome. A shame because it’s certainly not the food! Do try the pasta carbonara! The lack of service would for us be the only reason not...
Read moreAfter spending a lot of time in Italy, my stays in Luxembourg and Belgium did not cause the downgrade of the quality of the Italian cuisine there. However, Germany, where Italians constitute second biggest minority, surprised me negatively so far, until I found il Tartufo. The restaurant is spacious and can be visited by around 50 people the same time. There are two cooks, Calabrese and Siciliano, the cuisine is however more Northern Italian, including the pizza that is Roman style. I have enjoyed the quality and taste of food and can give my recommendation to all of you that know original Italian cuisine that a visit in il Tartufo is definitily worth. One thing that maybe requires qualification is giving the piece of Tartufo nero on the pizza that I was always perceiving the mistake, but...
