Schlossberg — Attraction in Freiburg im Breisgau

If you enjoy hiking, discovering old cities, walking in forests, cultural visits to old castles, this place is absolutely right for you. A must visit for adventurers who come to Freiburg. There are two ways to go up the mountain; the long paved and slightly inclined road which of course is longer, and the other steep, spiral short way to the peak. I took the shorter one upward and the longer on my way down to enjoy the beauty of both. Up at the highest point you find a historical compass map for the directions and cities inside Germany. On your way up, you’ll pass by 2 telescopes through which you can view any direction you want really close. To use them you’ll need 50 cents or 1 euro coins. Beautiful views of the city. Definitely worth the visit, but unless you're fit enough, do yourself a favour and take the Schlossbergbahn from Stadtgarten (take any tram to Europaplatz). Der Schlossberg oberhalb von Freiburg ist ein wunderschönes Fleckchen Natur, das zu Spaziergängen einlädt. Vom Aussichtsturm aus hat man ein wunderbaren Blick über die ganze Stadt. Da wundert es den Touristen doch, in welchem ungepflegten Zustand die Stadt Freiburg dieses Juwel anbietet. Hat man den "Einstieg" gefunden, so führen einen total mit Laub und Moos bewachsene Treppenstufen parallel zur Bahn nach oben. Sollte man weder Bahn noch Treppe benutzen, geht schon hier das Gesuche los. Es gibt fast keine Wegweiser, die Wegen verzweigen sich spinnenartig wie in einem Labyrinth auf dem ganzen Gelände. Manchmal findet man mehr durch Zufall eine Infotafel, die zu einem Rundweg um den Schlossberg gehört. Leider nur scheint dieser Rundweg geheim zu sein, denn Wegweiser fehlen auch hier. Die Sehenswürdigkeiten, wie den Aussichtsturm oder den Kanonenplatz findet man mehr durch Zufall. Dafür kann man mit Matratzen ausgestattete und verkommene Lauben sehen, von denen Deckplatten herunter hängen oder Plätze, wo letzte Nacht ein Saufgelage stattfand.
