This is a wonderful and very atmospheric restaurant to enjoy some traditional German food. It is such a beautiful spacious room inside of the parlament building, which is worth checking out itself, the design is fantastic. I really enjoyed my dinner, I had the rump steak, rainbow caesar salad and chips (€36), not the most German thing on the menu lol but so so delicious. My partner had the homemade spinach dumplings (€17) and loved them! Her only criticism was that there was a lot of salad compared to the number of dumplings (only 2) so she would have liked more dumplings. We finished off our dinner with a nice cappuccino and a scoop of ice cream (€3). The price was very reasonable considering the quality and location. I definitely ordered the most expensive dish. I think my only criticisms would be that the bathrooms weren't the nicest. They were clean but not very nice considering the elegant resturant they were in. And although very promt and efficient, the waiters weren't particularly friendly. Neither of these things were negative impacts on our experience, however. I would recommend to everyone...

Grünkohl, Kassler, Back, Wurst.

Food was OK. Services was truly awful. First we came in and asked for a table and were told they were fully booked. A few hours later we just gave a call to ask again, and suddenly there were tables available. When we arrived the place was literally half empty and remained as such.

The food was OK but overpriced for what you got served I think you can find better in Hamburg.

The waiter left us waiting almost 30 minutes for a bottle of wine and didn’t even bother to stop with some water in the meantime not until we asked him. When we finished and asked for the card o look at desserts he essentially forgot us and left us waiting another 20 minutes. When we paid and didn’t provide a tip because of bad services he started behaving rudely, aggressive moving things off our table and even cursing at us in his own language (which unfortunately for him one of us spoke too and understood).

Overall would...

Traditional German food? Yes BUT a one-and-done deal for me. Overall, the food was good. I got the Homemade “Sauerbraten” marinated beef. The beef was a bit dry but still tasty. I wanted to try some German food and thought the Houses of Parliament would be a cool old restaurant. The restaurant itself is definitely beautiful but the service is LESS than par. I am from NY and I was traveling alone. I don't know if it was the fact that I was eating dinner alone that really bothered my waiter but he did not ask ONCE if my food was good. At first, I thought maybe he was just a bad waiter but there was a couple sitting next to me that he asked THREE times if everything was good. Clearly, the man could not handle a young adult female enjoying her own company at dinner.

I explicitly pointed to the kleine portion of the labskaus on the menu. I wanted to try something new and it was supposed to be a specialty, but I really didn't know what I was going to get, and so I also didn't know that they gave me the big portion anyway. So I paid for 21 euro for what is basically corned beef. Very cunning to trap a clueless tourist like me! I would have let it go at that but at the end of our meal I wanted to go to the toilet, and they told me there was no toilet. They gave vague directions to go through the city hall and outside, and it turned out to be the public toilet on the plaza. Completely unacceptable! How can this be a restaurant with no toilet, and they direct their customers to the public toilet instead???

It is a great experience to have a dinner inside the Parlament (Town Hall) in Hamburg. The food is northern german style and the 1890 architecture environment is impressive. We had a Labskaus, which is a traditional sailor dish, made of salted meat and beetroot, and then pureed, with a fried egg on top! It was delicious. We also had a Wiener scalope. The portion was really generous, and everything was well cooked and tasty. I am not so keen on German cuisine, so I didn't find the menu so interesting after all. But I think the experience is great and you get to experience real German dishes.
