Amazing educating experience about how it feels like to be blind for example. I went to this experience after my MSC cruise as it was close to the port of Hamburg. You get a blind guide, meaning they hire blind people for this which is great. You put everything in free lockers there before joining the guided tour in the complete dark with a white cane for the blind people. Also you have to purchase coins, 1 coin is 1 euro. With the coins you can order a drink or snack during the tour in the complete dark! The guide will serve you.
You basically start the tour with a bunch of other people. Everyone gets a cane and then proceed to enter the dark rooms together. You have to listen to the voice of the guide in order to know where to walk in the dark lol, also use your cane to navigate of course. You walk together with everyone in Complete dark rooms that resemble a restaurant/ bar, the woods, traffic etc. The guide gives you time to touch the furniture and stuff around you in the dark and to guess what those are. Then you all have to move on to the next room by listening to his or her voice and following that voice. You will sometimes have to talk out loud in order for the guide to know whether you have reached him so you can go into the next room. So no one gets left behind in a dark room.
Everything happens safely, of course sometimes youâll bump into another person if you do not use your cane well lol. Itâs a fun and humbling and...
Read moreI have two experiences to share:
The positive: I booked Dialogue In The Dark "English". This was a fabulous experience. Our guide spoke English (as advertised) and so did all the guests. I can't say enough good things about this. It was amazing.
The negative: I booked the Dinner In The Dark "English".
Had I known beforehand what awaited it me, I would've never participated in this absolute nightmare.
I was put with 20 Germans in a group. The entire thing (apart from a few sentences in English by the waiters) was in German. To sit in 2 hours in darkness, feeling completely ostracized, not understanding a thing, loud laughter, chattering and even shouting was a horrible experience.
And what's even worse is when I contacted the company and complained about the false advertising, and rightfully so, as this was far from being an English experience, they didn't even have the decency to reply.
I repeatedly voiced my dissatisfaction with their service only to be completely ignored.
A MAJOR disappoinment.
So I will close with this:
I truly question the values of this company.
They have no problems charging high prices for their so-called services.
Taking my âŹ160 Euros for the dinner was not an issue for them.
But to pay me the minimum respect of answering my emails, as an unhappy customer, is something they clearly can't be bothered with.
Google doesn't allow me to give zero stars.
ZERO stars. A...
Read moreWe did the Dialogue in the Dark tour and also checked out the exhibits in the foyer. The exhibits were well done, thought-provoking and provided a lot of cool, new insight and information into barriers and different disabilities. The walk in the dark was an interesting experience, too. However, we were very unlucky with the guide. He was charming, but he kept switching back to German A LOT, on a tour which was menat to be in English specifically. During the visit of the Dark Bar, we only talked German as well. Or more like, our guide had a monologue in German. I speak German, but my boyfriend does not and he missed more than half of the guides explanations and stories, because it was all in German. So he felt very left out and excluded and overwhelmed (he is very introverted, has autism and all the noise in the dark was already a lot to process, but listening to a language he does not speak made it worse and he did not feel like he could speak up and say something). So it was a bit strange to have an exhibition about barriers, including language barriers, talking about how to make society more inclusive for people with disabilities, but then to be so actively excluded. We were both very disappointed. We would have appreciated a calmer more thoughtful guide who you can talk to and have a...
