We spent a month in Milos and visited Glaronisia many times.
The food is excellent and the atmosphere is wonderful.
However, I cannot give Glaronisia 5 stars because of one of the waitresses working there. During our first visit to Glaronisia, the waitress (a young, short brunette) told us they didn't have any menus. She said, "we have chicken... salad?"
We were pretty confused. How does a restaurant not have menus available?
To our surprise, we came back to Glaronisia a few days later. Another waitress was working (a taller brunette with long brown hair) and she immediately brought us English menus. Hmm.. strange! Maybe they just got the menus?
The third time we visited Glaronisia, the same waitress as the first time was there again. She refused to give us menus again and listed off 4-5 items. I told her, "we were here a few days ago and the other waitress gave us menus. We just want to look." To which she replied, "no, not today." Unsure of what to order (since we were only given 4 options), we simply ordered a beer with the intention of leaving after.
A few minutes later, the taller waitress came in and the shorter waitress went home. The taller waitress immediately came to our table and I asked if they had menus. "Of course! Let me get some for you!" she said.
WHAT? Why did the first waitress refuse to give us menus? We almost left the restaurant because of her.
As far as the second, taller waitress, she was so pleasant. She smiled at us, helped us, and provided excellent service. The first waitress was not nice and never smiled once. I'm not sure why because we are pretty easy-going and friendly.
If it weren't for the shorter waitress, we would give Glaronisia 5-stars. I hope the owner can talk to her about being more...
Read moreCame for a sunset dinner, based on the reviews but was so disappointed I didn't even finish my meal. They have a parrot that literally doesn't stop squawking. Unbelievable. There was only one other table, gregarious chain-smoking locals. Finally, I called the server over and told her that while they have a lovely place, with nice music and a great view, it's hard to enjoy it with this parrot making all the noise. It didn't stop for more than 30 seconds the 25 minutes or so that I was there. She starred at me expressionless and said absolutely nothing. So, I asked for my meal to be put in a box and took it home to eat it - at least the salad. Again, she said nothing. When I went to pay, no apologies were offered. I said, I don't get it, no one comes to a restaurant to pay these prices and wants to listen to this. She said I was the first to complain. Give me a break. The Greek salad and wine was average, the pastitsio was dry and had almost no meat. There are better options, even at the end of high season when places are shuttering - unless...
Read moreWe dined at this restaurant yesterday, and there were both pros and cons to our dinner. The ambience is truly exceptional, especially on Friday and Saturday nights with live Greek music creating a fantastic atmosphere. The staff deserves special mention as they were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our visit.
However, when it comes to the food, there were some ups and downs. The Moussaka was a highlight - I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sadly, the chicken souvlaki meal left a bit to be desired; it lacked the expected flavor. The side French fries were a bit too soft for my liking, and the grilled tomatoes and pepper could have been cooked a bit longer. It seemed like the meal might have been rushed due to their busy hours.
The Arhontisa Salad was a letdown for me as it was too sweet, probably due to an excess of honey-infused sauce. If the food quality and flavor matched the wonderful vibe and attentive staff, this place would easily earn a 5-star rating from me. However, because of the somewhat unsatisfactory meals, I...
