I cannot stress this enough: Salt & Pepper is hands down the best restaurant in Santorini—possibly the best restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. We tried many spots during our trip, but nothing came close to this absolute gem.
The food? Unbelievable. Every bite tasted like it came straight from heaven. Cooked fresh by the owner himself, the flavors were deep, vibrant, comforting, and authentically Greek. From the first dish to the last, it was perfection. The tzatziki alone deserves its own award. The mussels were divine (a meal like this would cost hundreds in USA, here is was insanely reasonable)
The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and quietly joyful—perfect for conversation and connection. Whether you sit indoors or outdoors, there’s soft music in the background and a real sense of calm and charm. It feels like you're dining in someone’s beautiful home.
What makes it even more special is the true mom-and-pop vibe. The wife warmly greets every guest and takes your order with love, while the husband pours his heart into the food in the kitchen. It’s the kind of experience that makes you feel like family, not just a customer.
Important note: Google currently says they’re “temporarily closed” — this is not true! They are definitely open. You can call ahead for a reservation or walk in, but make sure you arrive before 10 PM, as the kitchen closes then. Give yourself at least an hour to fully enjoy the experience—it’s all cooked fresh, and so worth the wait.
Do yourself a favor: skip the tourist traps and come here. Salt & Pepper is the real deal. I’ll be dreaming about this...
Read moreWe recently had the most beautiful hike from Oia to Fira in Santorini on a sunny day, and we can't express how much this experience meant to us. The 10 km walk was absolutely worth it, especially because we ended up at a charming little restaurant called Salt and Pepper, run by a delightful couple.
Irene, Mrs. Pepper, and her husband Costa, Mr. Salt, have been operating this authentic Greek restaurant for 15 years, and you can truly feel their passion in every dish they serve. Just a short 4-minute walk from the main square, it’s a hidden gem that we’re so glad we discovered.
We wanted to try some local grilled fish, so we let Irene make the recommendation. She brought us the Red Sea Bream, which Costa personally selects each morning from the local fish market. They even source vegetables from local elders who grow them in their own gardens 😍😍😍—something you won’t find at just any restaurant. The fish was grilled to perfection, seasoned beautifully, and tasted like it was made with love.
We were so famished that Irene initially advised against ordering more, but we couldn't resist trying more of Costa’s cooking. After much deliberation, we opted for the tabouleh salad and Pork Tenderloin hot mezze, and it was like a taste of grandma homecooked love. Every element on the plate complemented each other so well that we finished everything.😋😋😋👍❤️
Thank you, Irene and Costa💕💕💕, for treating us like family! 🥺🥺🥺❤️💕🌹This dining experience was the highlight of our first visit to Greece, making my birthday trip even more special. We can’t...
Read moreThis place was our first impression of Santorini as we just reached by ferry and wanted to grab a bite. Understandably being the most popular island in Greece, generally prices are slightly higher, but the warmth of the owner "Mrs Pepper" and the delicious food more than make up for it.
I wanted to wash my hands before eating the bread and even though the toilet was downstairs, she allowed me to wash at the sink and even offered me kitchen towels to dry my hands. Much appreciated because it was tiring climbing the slopes in fira with luggage.
She treated us like her children and served us our food fairly quickly. We had the steamed mussels and seafood pasta. They were cooked with the same seafood base which was flavorful and fresh. If I could choose again I'll probably order something of different base (also because we were sharing), but I didn't mind it too much also because it tastes good and I was hungry.
The base was so tasty we asked for more warm fluffy bread to soak up the tomato sauce, which Mrs Pepper gladly obliged. Other restaurants would have charged more for more bread. The crunchy light cucumber yogurt with spices that came originally with the bread is so good too and paired perfectly.
Lastly, she also gave us some free sweet desserts. We were so full we couldn't finish it but it was a nice gesture. We were happy and left with good memories. Highly...
