This has also been one of best accommodation experiences I’ve had in Europe.
The young man at reception (argils? I think his name was) helped me check in and was super helpful with maps of the city and what to do.
When I went into my room, everything was obviously neat and clean. I was provided with shampoo, soap, tea, drinking glasses and various sized towels.
The room looked like it was built yesterday, and was very modern looking and practical.
I was also provided with white robes which i never used & regret not using them! I did however use the safe (which didn’t close) & the hairdryer. There was also an iron and ironing board which i didn’t use.
What really stood out to me was the very modern and practical shower, aircon & jacuzzi which was an amazing addition i used daily!
I was very happy with housekeeping.
Upon leaving, I was running late and reception let me check out an hour later. Thank you.
The only real downside was the door was hard to open and lock, you needed to apply pressure against the door for it to lock/unlock. Also the owner left lights on out the front which I couldn’t turn off which did not make it that dark for sleeping. Also, the safe did not lock - maybe i did something wrong. Finally, the Aircon remote was a little bit dodgy. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t.
The accommodation was also a little bit expensive but I guess you pay for what you get!
Thank you so much for accommodating me and giving me a great experience. I would definitely recommend this place to others and possibly return if I come back...
Read moreThe new building is nice - decorated neutrally, but we were in the old building which none of the pictures on the website are as dated as the room we did stay in. We were in the family room and although the space was decent in the kitchenette/living area, around the bed/wardrobe/into the bathroom area it is tiny (the wardrobe door bangs into the bed!). The bathroom door didn't even shut as it is poorly fitted into the frame so no chance at locking it. The shower cubicle is tiny - even for someone who is 5ft 1 and petite! And the fan to the bathroom was very rattly and loud which comes on automatically with the light. And with there being no windows into the bathroom every time someone needs to use it the noise would start - not fun when the toilet is being used during the night/early morning! Right outside our room is the hotel pool, which was about 3 steps away from our door. No barrier to the pool So if you have little children you'd need to keep a very close eye on them. There is a very steep cobbled hill to get down to get to the hotel - which most taxi drivers wouldn't go down. So when we arrived from the airport with our suitcases it was quite difficult! And also on the shuttle collection, the taxi asked us to get to the top of the hill to be collected. Cleanliness I would rate at 4, and friendliness and helpfulness of staff I would rate at 5. If we had a room in the newer buildings I would say it's worth the money (as we had family staying there we were able to see the difference), but in the room we were in...
Read moreI stayed at Galatia Villas for 5 nights with my friend in the end of September - beginning of October. I booked our room through their own website already in January and I am very glad I did so: Galatia Villas definitely exceeded our expectations.
This is absolutely a five star accommodation in their own category: offering a budget friendly, clean, authentic Greek option about 10 minutes walk away from the center of Fira. The location is really good and peaceful as there is no traffic nearby.
It is a privately owned small hotel where the owner works himself and takes care of guests’ needs. Friendliness of the hotel staff overall made definitely an impression.
When booking through their own website, it was possible to book also transfer from/to the airport, as well as add a bottle of wine and fruit to the order. We were able to enjoy our wine and fruit plate at the lovely yard already when we arrived as it was earlier than check-in time and we really appreciated it.
Our room was located at the annex building 30 meters away from the main building. The standard room was clean and good size for two people. Air conditioning worked very well. The room had a small fridge which was convenient for beverages.
We really enjoyed the outdoor jacuzzi at the patio next to our room. Fabulous and relaxing!
I will definitely stay at Galatia Villas again, if I travel to Santorini by myself or...
