‘Caldera View’ room not as advertised. Obstruction to view is a little like watching the theatre with a restricted view seat. Except they describe it from the offset as is, and it is discounted to reflect this. Basic decor and furnishings not as reflected across imagery Decorated / finished to an extremely poor standard or not up-kept at all. Entrance doors in dire need of repainting (we noticed the more superior suites had been newly decorated), paint / brush marks over walls, edges of doors and fittings etc displaying a real ‘rush’ fix / bodge job at patching over ‘worn’ areas over the years. Marks / stains over table tops / sides left. And also even mould on the edges of the lampshades. Fittings in areas extremely concerning such as electrical tv port hanging out of the wall, attention to detail such as extraction fan being installed upside down. Bathroom covered in mould and mildew which could easily be treated with a thorough regular clean. My husband and I are both asthmatic and mould spores really wreak havoc with our chest. Bathroom also looking incredibly tired with the ‘modern’ black fittings worn, chipped and rusted with the shower head especially having I think never been descaled at all. As well as the look of this it also meant that most of the holes were blocked so the full shower did not work and water spurted in all directions meaning a weak water flow. The bathroom sink also took an incredibly long time to drain and overall hot water in both the sink and shower took a good few minutes to reach a decent temperature.
In addition to our disappointment with the room other areas of the resort which just goes to show the careless of the level of attention which you would expect from ANY hotel let alone a 5 star hotel:
I reported a broken chair on my first morning at breakfast to which I was told would be seen to right away. I was shocked to actually discover I sat on again on my last day today still broken. Swimming pool has a lot of green mildew / build up along the edges of the pool and the paint is also peeling and I learned also either not prepared properly or incorrect paint used as the sun caused it to obviously heat and I was sad to notice I had stuck to this which in turn has ruined two of my swimming costumes as I now have paint on them. I was also shocked to be served an out of date beverage, a Cherry Soda with a use by date of 7 months ago. This is the level of attention I am shocked at for such a prestigious hotel.
We did raise our concerns on the first day of being unhappy with our room, and were offered two other rooms further down from ours which in our opinion were just as run down with an even worse viewpoint so as that was all that could be offered, felt settling for our current room was the best of the bunch which I hope you can appreciate is not exactly how we should have felt. We really tried to look past this but by day 3 we came to the conclusion that for the price we paid, we would much prefer to simply cancel the remainder of our stay and pay to return home early if we could obtain a refund for the remaining stay. We have never in our lives considered terminating a holiday early so the decision didn’t come lightly, especially since it was meant to be our honeymoon. We were made to feel really ashamed and embarrassed for raising our concerns with the gentleman at reception (who seemed to us of being a more managerial role) as after this point was no longer his usual bubbly, friendly, appreciable self who usually greeted us or smiled and seemed to simply avoid us which left us feeling incredibly awkward around the main pool /...

Rating: ☆ (1/5)
I recently had the opportunity to stay at Honeymoon Petra Villas in Santorini, and unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected. Despite paying a hefty $1200 for a single night's stay, I found the hotel's offerings severely lacking and not reflective of a genuine 5-star experience.
One of the major letdowns was the quality of the food. The dishes served were pre-cooked and poorly prepared, leaving them cold and unappetizing. This falls far below the standard I would expect from a top-tier hotel anywhere in the world.
Moreover, the hotel's claim of providing spectacular sunset views from the rooms turned out to be a misleading marketing tactic. In reality, the sunset could only be seen from the restaurant and pool area, not from the rooms, as advertised.
The rooms themselves were clean and adequately comfortable, but they were surprisingly small for a supposedly luxurious accommodation. Given the exorbitant price, one would expect more spacious and lavish accommodations, especially considering the options available at other 5-star hotels in Santorini.
The behavior of some staff members was also disappointing. While not outright rude, the baggage handlers seemed overly focused on receiving tips, and their demeanor changed noticeably if a tip was not immediately offered.
To add to the frustrations, transportation to and from the airport or port was not included in the hotel service, which was unexpected at such a high price point. Additionally, the breakfast provided was basic and lacking variety, leaving much to be desired.
Perhaps the most disheartening aspect of this experience was the way the hotel management handled a complaint about a poorly prepared dish. Rather than offering a sincere apology, they seemed dismissive and even attempted to charge me for the unsatisfactory meal initially. It was evident that the staff lacked a sense of professionalism and customer service.
In the end, the steep price of $1200 for a single night's stay, without any inclusions, feels unjustifiable, considering the lackluster services and amenities. Even after factoring in additional costs such as transportation, tips, and other expenses, the value proposition remains questionable.
I do not recommend Honeymoon Petra Villas to anyone seeking a luxurious and memorable stay in Santorini. There are numerous other 5-star hotels on the island that offer superior services and experiences. Furthermore, I have received numerous attempts from the hotel management to persuade me into retracting my negative review, indicating a questionable business practice that may be deceiving potential guests.
In conclusion, my stay at Honeymoon Petra Villas was underwhelming, and I hope that my review can help others make more informed decisions while planning their...
Read moreTrying to find a resort to stay at in Santorini can be daunting with literally 000s to choose from, it’s was over whelming.
After a lot of research, reviews, we settled on Honeymoon Petra., for its location, views, reviews, size and most importantly for us, its privacy in relations to been over looked etc.
Once booked; the hotel front desk were on hand to answer any questions, request, booking of tours, restaurants and general help. Their responsiveness and interaction prior to our arrival was unrivalled to other hotels we have stayed at.
When we arrived, the resort lived up to our very high expectation, from the bellboys taking our luggage from the drop off point to our suite in the original part of the hotel.
The setting for the resort is stunning and offers one of the very few that is completely private (no one walking past your balcony), the setting around the pool, bar and restaurant were just breathtaking.
Now the biggest positive, the staff at the resort. They are all simply amazing, professional, charming and always on hand to help. The manager made sure she spoke to every guest daily and ensure everything was as they wished.
The resort has limited sun bed, but if none are available, just speak to the bar staff who will try to accommodate you.
We are unable to give this resort 5 stars for the following reasons but they could easily be fixed.
This resort comes at a premium due to its location and overall standard of lodgings, however falls short on a number of areas;
The breakfast is extensive, healthy and well presented. However, the fact it’s all pre cooked, despite having a fully functional kitchen and chef, isn’t acceptable. Hot breakfast should be cooked to order rather than sitting around as a buffet. Pancakes were cold and hard, eggs cold and lacks the ability to have your bread toasted. The hot food is not placed on hot plates, but rather in pans that eventually cool the food down. The lack of choice around asking for an omelette if you wish is a real shame.
What I think is totally unacceptable, is they only offer filtered coffee in the price. If you wish to have a latte or something else, it comes at a cost. When you are paying over €800 per night, they need to offer more.
We stayed in one of the original rooms and they need some upgrades badly. These include, better mood lighting, larger TV, more English speaking channels ( not that you watch much TV), a more powerful aircom unit ( we had use of one of their newer rooms during our last day) and offered such a unit, and upgrade of some of the bathroom features. We felt the bedding was on the heavy side, so a lighter togged duvet might be a good idea.
Note: they do offer two large bottles of water daily, which is great and if you run out, just ask for more.
We would consider going back but would hope some improvements are made...
