Ok so there's so many trinkets to buy that are VASTLY overpriced! You'll see amazing indigenous dresses (huipil) with so many colors and patterns. You CAN buy them, you CAN wear them, infact people like it. The colors and patterns mean they belong to a specif area so feel free to ask. Coffee.... omg they sell an amazing coffee in any coffee shop located around the square. Youll see so many locals enjoying the park as well. If you're traveling on Sunday, just a few blocks away, is shoreline church (evangelical non-denomination) to get your spirit going. Entertainment: theres an art gallery, museum of Guatemalan history, and the cathedral that you can visit for free, you just have to sign in a sheet your name and where you're coming from. The Antigua Arc is a few blocks away, go get your insta-worthy picture there đ đ. Food: well I would suggest going to a local eatery BUT watch out for the spices, and I don't mean hot ones, it's a combination of so many herbs, peppers, and dry spices that it might give you the runs (I've been running for the past 3 days). Parking; there's hourly parking at around 20 USD so do with that what you will. Street food: you'll see vendors pushing like mini busses and trucks, BTW that's a guatemala thing so take pictures, they sell Popsicles and ice cream đŠ I just took pictures, no idea of the water or milk used.

Lovely place to stroll, hang out, have a coffee or watch people. Atmospheric in sunshine or thunderstorms, day or night. Lovely architecture, maintained and restored in as authentic a way as possible. You'll still see people fixing the cobblestone roads with a big wooden mallet and their bare hands. The hawkers are not oppressive, are goodly natured and will leave you alone after a simple 'no thank you'. Feels safe, clean and family oriented day or night, even with the occasional homeless person walking through with one shoe. The sad spectacle of tiny children shining shoes with their bare hands has thankfully disappeared, although you wonder what has become of them. The increasing number of tourists from Europe and north America has slowly changed this beautiful town into something of a tourist trap, but somehow it's maintained its beauty and grit and hasn't become a Venice cruise ship nightmare yet. It's certainly improved the restaurants for the western palate, yet authentic food isn't far away. Catch it on a festival, and you may see carpets of flowers in the roads. Fireworks can be heard on any day (or night). Constantly. Don't bring pets. That's probably a general rule though for any travel ...

The Central Park is the heart of Antigua Guatemala. It is a beautiful square surrounded by colonial buildings, including the Cathedral, the Palace of the Captains General, and the Palace of the Archbishop. The park is home to a variety of trees and plants, as well as a fountain and a statue of a Mayan god. The Central Park is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere, or to take a stroll and explore the surrounding area. The park is also home to a number of restaurants and cafes, so you can grab a bite to eat or a drink while you're there. If you're looking for a place to relax, enjoy the outdoors, and learn about Guatemalan history and culture, the Central Park is the perfect place for you. Here are some tips for visiting the Central Park: The best time to visit is in the morning or evening, when it is cooler and less crowded. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as you will be doing a lot of walking. Bring a camera to capture the beauty of the park and its surroundings. Don't forget to try some of the local food at one of the restaurants or cafes in the park. I hope you enjoy your visit to the Central Park!

We made a one day visit trip to Antigua for a friends birthday from El Salvador. Our private transportation company Grupo Logsal (driver Saul) located in El Salvador was amazing, very knowledgeable, very attentive, patient, knew the importance of safety, educated us during our journey. They are licensed, insured and have all credentials to transport out of El Salvador to Guatemala borders. Leaving 3am and made it to Antigua 8am About 4.5 hr drive time. This park is amazing, I got to see the very popular arc, there is a Starbucks in the area and itâs very nice (by far impressed by the artwork) The locals speak multiple languages so be mindful of how and what you say. Do not take photos of the locals without their permission as itâs considered offensive. I highly recommend this visit

Beautiful, lively center of town where you can find a bench or railing to sit and take a break from walking around. Lots of great photo spots and locals selling souvenirs. Great place to take in all the sounds of the city, and gaze around for the next stop on your wandering day. Across from the cathedral is a block lined with restaurants, cafes, and the large market with anything you could ever need in terms of souvenirs. There is an ATM hall on the same wall as Cafe Barista, and if you walk toward volcĂĄn Agua on the same street as the yellow arch, youâll find another hall of ATM machines very close to Monoloco. Across from Barista is a newer free museum where you can enjoy lots of art and history. This plaza is gorgeous during the day and at night!
