If you are looking for an elevated luxury vibe while traveling in Antigua, this place is it. It does come with a price tag though- although reasonable if you’re used to using the Euro, pound or dollar.
They do seat more casually dressed folks upstairs- I assume to maintain the upscale aesthetic, but again totally worth it.
We were served a warm broth based soup (in a mug) to start; with several sauce condiments to add to the soup. ADD all the condiments into your soup people! So delicious.
We started with the beef croquets. They were hearty. But I would say they reminded me of chicken fried steak— the only miss on the menu.
For entrees we have the octopus tacos, jalepeno steak and the surf and turf.
Octopus is hard to cook, but these tacos with perfectly cooked octopus bursting with flavor over a light potato puree absolutely divine. It was the perfect mix of flavors and textures.
The jalepeno steak was huge. Medium was done right- no over cooking or undercooking but the star of the show here was the creamy jalepeno sauce on the side that served as the perfect accompaniment.
Each steak dish came with sides which were also good. I will say that the elote option- although good, isn’t what Americans will be used too. There is sweet corn, where is crema but no cojita to be found. It’s also not on “corn on the cob” but loose kernels. Still a good dish but not in your typical elote, Mexican street corn form
For desert we had the crème Brule- which was huge. The base had something in it that I wouldn’t identify- but it was great.
We also had 2 bottles of the Malbec which was nice and hearty, full bodies and flavorful.
In total with 2 bottles of wine, a cocktail, 3 entrees with sides and an app, we spent about $30 per person....
Read moreThis well-appointed restaurant serves delicious food in an elegant environment. Unfortunately, their quality of service is erratic, ranging from very professional/attentive to downright infuriating. I asked for tartar sauce to accompany my octopus tacos (yes, I'm a gringo)... The dish was served without the tartar sauce, which I pointed out when it was delivered. Also, my Caesar salad was 3 medium-sized clusters of unchopped Romaine lettuce with inedible end attached and a sparse amount of Parmesan. I asked that the salad be cut unto bite-sized pieces so I'm not gnawing on big leaves like an ungulate at the table. Then I proceeded to wait an additional 10min for my forgotten tartar sauce. Eventually, I walked up to a group of servers hanging out at the bar with my cold octopus tacos (140 Quetzales for 3 by the way). 20 minutes after the rest of my group was served I finally received my reheated tacos and tartar. Good thing they were delicious. Last fun event from tonight's annoying and disappointing dinner was attempting to pay a tip and requesting change for 100 Qz, only to have the same inept waiter bring back two 50q bills, despite explicitly asking for a 50 and smaller bills. I was so annoyed at that point that I sternly reminded him what I asked for. He eventually returned with 50Qz in change. When I pointed out I was short 50Qz he promptly ran back and recovered the money he attempted to steal from me. Wow. Not a good look for a luxury steak restaurant that serves mostly tourist clientele. I spent 1000 Quetzales on dinner for 4 and left quite annoyed, so I will never be eating here again. The steak is excellent but caveat emptor when it comes to...

Now, let’s talk about the star of the show—the steak. I got the jalapeño steak and quite simply, it’s the best I’ve ever had. Cooked to absolute perfection, with a beautiful sear on the outside and a melt-in-your-mouth tenderness inside, every bite was a revelation. The flavors were rich, balanced, and enhanced by a selection of incredible sauces.
The wine list is another standout. Whether you’re a casual drinker or a connoisseur, there’s something for everyone. The staff is knowledgeable and ready to help with pairings, ensuring you get the most out of your meal.
Adding to the experience is the tableside service, which is both entertaining and engaging. Whether it’s a flambéed dish, a carved-to-order steak, or a touch of theatricality with the presentation, it brings an extra level of excitement to the evening.
The only downside? The service, while friendly and professional, was on the slower side. It wasn’t a major issue, but if you’re in a hurry, it’s something to keep in mind. However, if you’re here to relax and savor the experience, it’s well worth the wait.
Overall, this restaurant delivers an outstanding dining experience with world-class steak, an excellent wine selection, and unique, engaging service. If they improve the speed a bit, it would be flawless. Highly...
