Disappointed. First off, we could've chosen from thousands of restaurants and we decided to give Kombu a try. When we arrived, the host (who has blacked out tattoos on his left arm, so you know who I'm speaking about) didn't acknowledge us, didn't greet us, and we were the only ones waiting. He was arguing with someone, so we waited, just standing there for 10 mins. Finally, I politely tapped him on the arm and he turns to me and tells me to wait. Awesome. I was just going to ask to use the restroom while we wait. But instead of asking what I needed, he was hella rude and disregarded me immediately so he could continue arguing. Now to the food, just ok for me. This was my first Ramen experience but my husband is an advid fan and even he agreed it wasn't worth the price. Didn't taste fresh, very minimum ingredients, and I was expecting more flavor. I wanted to be blown away or at least had a good experience, but none of those things happened. The people who served us were great, attentive and professional. Ambiance is nice. Restrooms are beautiful. But will we...
Read moreIt was good but was it outstanding ramen? I'm afraid not. I'd be lying if I said it was outstanding. Have I tried better? I'm afraid yes. There's a lot of potential for instance for someone who prefers a vegetarian type of ramen (even though I'm not a vegetarian when it comes to anything soup-based I prefer veggies) it lacks options. For instance, I like my ramen to have a lot of veggies including mushrooms, etc. Like I've tried in other places in Toronto. Also the broth, I feel like they are limited in options. Not many broths to choose from. I liked the ambience and I loved the service but I just feel like it could be better in terms of providing quality food and options for vegetables and broth. The servers were so kind and super quick. And the cook well he seemed kind and he was attractive I won't lie! The service was very speedy, a lot of places lack this but...
Read moreDelicious ramen, gyoza. We both ordered the meat/curry ramen. Gyoza and karage. Gyozas were delicious and tasted authentic as also the ramen. The karage was a little over cooked. We liked the friendly staff, fast service and all the yummy condiments on the table. Especially the chilli sauce.
We disliked the loud music. Dear owners please to create a more relaxing atmosphere for your customers (and I’m sure the staff too) it would be really nice to have the music played at a lower more calmer level.
My husband was sitting across from me and I couldn’t really hear what he was saying. Trying to enjoy a meal over loud music and other customers having to shout trying to compete with the noise level. It made the restaurant feel chaotic and not relaxing at all. Also some more cold airflow especially in the back seating area of the...
