Gorgeous cathedral , beautifull from outside even better on the inside . Went on a stroll around the city ,and saw the tower from afar so followed the streets until I met the cathedral ,at the time I visited it had scaffolding around ( probably repairs or maintenance ) . From inside it's filled with colours and looks amazing just like the photos , entered and sit for about 1 hour just thinking about life ,about everything . It's the only Catholic cathedral in Iceland it seems it was constructed around 1920( 1923). The acess is easy ,has plenty of parking space and access to wheelchairs is great ,the only challenge for wheelchairs might be the streets because it's always going up. If you visit Reykjavik YOU must visit this church !

I visited here in late July 2019 when I was staying nearby and wanted to go to Saturday night Vigil Mass for my Sunday Holy Day of Obligation. I’m so glad that I did. This Neo-Gothic designed Cathedral has a rather modest overall interior, but the blue and blue green tones inside are soothing and add to the peaceful and prayerful environment within. It has quite a unique feel inside that departs from some Cathedrals that are too dark or too bright. I’m sure that on a snowy Advent or Christmas night it is a special place to worship the Christ Child in the Eucharist. Make sure to also visit the bell memorial outside.

This is a very beautiful church, even though it is not as famous as Hallgrímskirkja. Built in 1929, this Neo-Gothic Roman Catholic church is one of its kind, having the symmetrical characteristics of Icelandic church but do not resemble any landscape and not modern looking. Although the neo gothic architecture of this church may not be as confiscated as most European church, it is humble and beautiful in its own way. Not many tourists here, do drop by if you have the time.

The Cathedral of Christ the King, while less famous than Hallgrimskirkja, holds its own with a unique history and architectural style. This Roman Catholic cathedral, built in the 1920s, serves as a spiritual center for Iceland's Catholic community. Its design contrasts with the local architectural style, featuring a classic European cathedral structure, which makes it a distinct landmark in Reykjavik. Interesting fact, this church is the only basilica in Reykjavik! 😍

Beautiful cathedral, with a number of interesting statues and objects in addition to the striking exterior. These include a statue of St Thorlak, Iceland's patron (and only) saint, plus a 14th century wooden statue of the Madonna and child with a crown made for the visit of Pope John Paul Ii. Outside there is also a "protection of life bell", which is prominent on the entrance path. Mass here was also lovely and it was great to see the church full.

Set in large grounds and on top of a hill, this would have been the most prominent church in Reykjavik before the Hallgrímskirkja. Even now it is still impressive both from the outside and the inside and is still a landmark on the skyline of Reykjavik. There are some interesting statues outside the church within its grounds. Inside the church it is very serene. The church is also known as Landakotskirkja
