go visit the National Museum’s photo gallery instead Most underwhelming museum in Reykjavik so far. I didn’t hate it... and really hoped I can give it higher rating... but the exhibit was simplify far too small (10min or less for both sections). Images without any title, label, photographer or description of any kind (except for one hidden printed page somewhere that has the photospheres and year of all the photos). The photos... frankly are not even that good, I had thought maybe those were early 2000 equipments, but I discovered they were 2018-2019... yea... really couldn’t excuse the low quality. Maybe we had stumbled upon a bad rotation?

Read moreLots of images of Reykjavik and photography books, a good place to spend afternoon for photography lovers. The exhibition theme is quite interesting and inspiring, a good chance to see Iceland from different angle. The image storage is divided into different theme, such as child, swimming pool, animal, etc. not only good for photography lovers but also who would love to take a look at people lived in Iceland in the past and who is interested in historical images of Reykjavik. Ticket price is fair enough for the accessibility of all the resources here I would say, and also a small gift shop for some post card and souvenir related to photography, highly recommended, you’ll never want to miss if you love photography or...

The real gems of the archive in my opinion are the historic photos of Iceland, a small selection of which you can view for free in the stairwell on the way up to the museum. The rest can be viewed digitally on monitors in the gift shop. A real shame those photos aren't exhibited, as they paint a fascinating portrait of Iceland in decades gone by.
The city library is worth a visit too on the ground and first floors: an inviting space with many cozy reading nooks to browse books in English...
