This is a beautiful resting place. It is full of many nature and massive trees. I was pleased to see how many plants have been given to respect people and also items like angels which were beautiful statues to give to their loved ones. I'm glad this is open 24 hours so people can come whenever they want. You cannot hear the traffic why you are inside. The stone ground to walk around is a very well looked after. If you can catch the sun rising here in winter, you'll be taken to an entire different world. Here, this little grove of most of the only trees in Reykjavik offers one of the most complete experiences of peace I've ever felt. It's clearly clean and taken care of. Not too far from most of the rest of the city, the only gripe you might have with this location is if you are from out of town and don't know how to navigate the one-way roads. Holavallgardur was a stop on the Reykjavik Folklore Walking Tour with Your Friend in Reykjavik, which was very interesting in itself. The guide informed us of how large the cemetery was originally, and how it unfortunately grew due to the Spanish flu. The majority of the graves are very gothic looking, and then a mix more modern as you make your way through.
