We recently stayed here for 4 nights for a holiday. When we checked in, we got a slightly unwelcoming, unfriendly greeting which didn't feel great.. we thought maybe we had interpreted the receptionist wrong as we were very tired.
Nevertheless we got our room key and went to our room. The room was basic, but fine for what we needed.
The decor was a little dated, the floor had very deep gouges and scratches from what I can only pesume were previous guests suitcases being heavily scraped over the floor.
The windows looking outside were filthy, very dirty which wasn't nice to see. The coffee station was clearly for American tourists. There were 2 tiny little coffee cups and a coffee machine. Absolutely no tea bags (for us Brits). We had to go out and buy 2 normal sized mugs as well as tea bags and milk. It just seems very odd that not even a kettle is supplied in the room for a warm drink when it's a very cold destination.
The beds were comfy but pillows not so great but we made do. The duvets are warm and feel good quality. Ample storage space on the wardrobes etc.
Bathroom a little on the small side and the shower is very small, you had to be careful not to hit your arms on the soap despenser which stocks out quite prominently in the shower cubicle too.
Sadly on our last night we're were awoken at 2am by some cars blasting their horns at something directly outside the hotel, followed by a load of drunk idiots screaming and shouting. This follows on to my final comment that the windows were very draughty and blocked next to no sound from the outside. When you're exhausted and need a decent nights sleep the last thing you want is to hear what's going on outside.
Oh! Be careful if the hotel room doors, they are very heavy and could easily push someone over who isn't strong to hold the door back.
I would reccomend this hotel, but just be mindful of the aforementioned points especially if you're British and enjoy a cup of tea!
P.s the breakfast was...
Read moreThe short of the issue is that our room was too hot. The heat by the window was off, but the bathroom floor was heated and could not be turned off. We understand that it was unusually warm weather. Not being able to turn off the heat AND not being able to open the window further made the room really warm to miserable. We roasted. We slept in the night with the window as open as we could, the fan on, and the door to the hallway open - every night. For people considering staying here, we do not believe this would cause issues for you during the cooler months.
A staff member did try to help and gave us an extension cord, which did make the fan more useful. That was all they could do. (The hotel has very good and dedicated staff. They should be commended) The rest of the room is good: comfortable bed, decent lighting, and desk to work at. This can't make up for the difficulty sleeping in the heat.
We would like to note that Sirryi in particular helped us with dinner reservations. Others were very helpful, too.
Staff at the breakfast buffet were nice. I am celiac. They were not provided with ingredient lists on the foods served so there were things I could not try that were likely gluten-free, but we couldn't be sure. This has an easy fix. Give staff ingredient lists for items served. Meanwhile, for those looking for a celiac-friendly and gluten-free experience, the breakfast buffet was ok for me, and it should be for you.
Centrum is a nice hotel a few blocks from Parliament with a great staff. Management can do better than what we experienced. We would gladly stay here again if the heat issue is addressed. The staff quality was excellent so we believe it will be, and we will reach out to Centrum again on our next...
Read moreThe location is good, unfortunately it is the only positive point here. The bad experience started with the check in, the brown hair lady with glasses apparently set her wrong foot in the morning when she got up, the whole check-in she spoke very discreetly, we nearly understood what she mumbled, not a single smile, seemed like we came to this hotel to bother her, fine. The room: well, DO NOT trust the pictures on their website, their decorations/infrastructure is very old and with 0 convenience. As shown in the first picture, there’s NO visible sockets to charge your phone on the bedside, you’ll have to bend yourself and plus the charger under the nightstand; my night lampe broke down, only one night lampe worked in this room; on picture 2, the socket for the standing lampe is just a joke, you can’t plug anything in there because the head of the bed is blocking half of this socket, so, no standing lampe for us neither:) They kindly gave us teabags but guess what? There’s no kettle, how smart right???
The bathrooms is just sadly small, shower very cramped, and the floor is not clean, lint lying behind the front door and the door of bathroom….
You can forget soundproofing, we could hear every movement of our neighbors from upstairs , and when other neighbors used water, our tab became very noisy, this woke us up in the morning I had to go close the door of bathroom, though I could still hear it with the door being shut.
I don’t understand how come this is a 4-star hotel, really don’t, this is definitely one of the worst worth of 400€ I’ve ever...
