I have been aware of the Fischersund shop for a while, but each of my visits to Reykjavik had coincided with it being a Sunday, or flights were cancelled. So finding myself with some spare time on Monday, I finally got my wish.
If you consider scent and senses to be an adventure, a journey through the unexpected - evoking memories and images that you weren’t aware of. The first scent (no23) I was introduced to played an image of walking down a ski path, surrounded by pines with the hint of log fire hanging in the air, reminding me of holidays past. All of the perfumes that were sprayed were simply exquisite, and each one portrayed an image, a memory, a journey. Accompanied by poetic words, each aroma is a feast for the senses.
I went in for a scented candle for our 7th anniversary and walked away with not only that, but with the “Flothalt” eau de toilette. I love the smoky, soft salty smell that this particularly portrayed.
Visiting Fischersund was more than visiting a shop - it was spiritually uplifting, mesmerising and transcending through a personal journey through smell.
Thoroughly recommended - and I...

Amazing experience - art and poetry and a feast for the senses! I described a scent I want made and was inspired by their descriptions to write my own for the scent I want to have made. It’s called Stave Church.
That surprised relief in the seconds after turning a corner - will the wind hound me here? You revel in quiet uncertainty and relative warmth suspecting it won’t last The sound of wind seeking the edges of your clothes. Read moreI admit being a star struck Sigur Ros/Jonsi fan was all it took to get me to Fischersund, but after almost two weeks in Iceland, it remains one of the top treasures I’ll take with me. SO much more than a perfumery, it’s an experience that weaves together all of my favorite things: a family-owned business, with scents that conjure up the memories of their home and youth, harvested from the earth, with poetry and music to accompany each blend. Everything is intentional, meaningful, connected, visceral. Even the old house that has been lovingly restored to house the store is a work of art, down to the original exposed nails in the beam. Jon was so incredibly generous with his time, giving us a performance, not a sell. (But, yes, I bought something.) He had us close our eyes, pause, inhale, and listen as he magically transported us into the details and poems of each scent. One made me cry! A perfume! We all fell in love with this tender soul and the exquisite beauty of...
