Attempting to find a close eatery after our whale and dolphin tour. We saw this quirky and quaint spot right by the wharf. I tried a dish that perfectly embodies the concept of simple yet delicious food. It was a classic Artic Char in a cast iron skillet. The Char was pan seared, allowing it to hold a crispy crust but a flaky meat beautifully. There were a side of potatoes, carrots, and shaved beets as a topper. The fish was seasoned with cracked pepper and a drizzle of sunflower oil, highlighting the quality of the ingredients. Each bite was a burst of hearty and earthy flavor. My companion had Fish and Chips which were greasy and delicious. What stood out in my dish was how each component complemented the others without overwhelming the palate. It reminded me that sometimes, less really is more. The dish was comforting and satisfying, making it a true delight. I highly recommend trying it if you appreciate straightforward, wholesome cooking that lets the ingredients shine. We also tried the local Icelandic beer which was quite bitter. I don’t recommend that unless hops with a overload is your vibe. The restaurant was comfy and seemed like it would be busy during the evening hours. The staff took your order when you first came in. You sat yourself. And then they brought the food out to you and disappeared to leave you with your meal. They never checked on you or asked if you needed anything. Not sure if this is customary or not. I would 100% recommend this place; however, this place is very expensive. Our meals and one beer a piece cost us $81.10 USD. This is roughly 11,000 KR

Date of Visit: January 11, 2023 Prior to visiting Iceland, we looked into the best foods to eat when you visit Reykjavik and Iceland. Fish and Chips came up time and time again. It wasn't hard to find this restaurant - it is right on the coastal road - near many popular spots. We had a boat cruise booked with the cruise company which is across the street. We went here for dinner prior to departure. IT is a lovely little place.- decked out with amazing decor - including fish shaped lamp shades You order at the counter from a number of different menu items, and they bring the food to your table when it is ready. The fish is beautifully cooked as are the chips. They offer a variety of flavours of Sauces. Garlic jalapeno / lemon dill pepper / - and others. The fish is lightly battered - and they offer cod, halibut, haddock etc Other menus that you must try are the Artctic Char - which is not deep fried. Prices are about 2700 ISK (25 CAD) Service is quick and efficient - you do not wait long for your food at all. There is plenty of seating inside the restaurant. This is a must-visit restaurant and Roguetrippers made it a priority to check this place out when we visited Reykjavik.

Small little fish restaurant chain located across from the marina and the old Harbour. They offer a relatively small selection of fish dishes (fish and chips, baked, stew, and soup) we sampled the fish and chips to play it safe and it was hands down one of the best we've had in Iceland. I bet it would give some London fish and chip shops a run for their money. They have 4 different sauce flavors to dip your food in (lemon-pepper-dill, jalapeño-garlic, tartar, and cocktail sauce) They have a small selection of local beers (gull / boli) both draft and in bottles as well as red / white wine and sodas, juice, and tonic water. The restaurant is decorated in a maritime theme, with photos of Iceland's fishing history on the walls. Behind the counter were two waitresses that handled orders, serving, and cleaning tables between guests. The restaurant was pretty clean considering the amount of foot traffic that came in during our meal. This was probably our best meal in Reykjavik with the Brauð & Co. bakery coming in close second. We would definitely come again should we get a chance to return to Iceland. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Very close to our Air BnB apartment. Most Excellent Fish & chips around. Went there 2 days in a row. Really regret not going more times. Thick fish (cod) was lightly battered and crispy and not oily. When they brought order I said "you guys really know how to FRY!!" They even tried to make my fries well done (really dark brown) during the busy dinner rush. My wife enjoyed the smoked salmon and root veggies very much. We SHOULD have ordered mussels - too bad for me. Very crowded during dinner hours. Remember - get on line, order your food from the chalk board, pay, get your silverware, napkins, cups of water, THEN find a table. They will find you and bring food to you. Great! Very large place with an upper level too. So if you see a large crowd out the door, no worries, this place can handle a lot of people. Fast turnover. Located at the Old Harbor. and maybe 5 blocks from town shopping streets. Enjoy. They really spoiled me. Won't be able to get fish & chips like that in NY. This will bring back lip-smacking food memories.

We enjoyed this restaurant. We ordered the Fish and Chips(2.390 ISK), with Tartar sauce (290 ISK), and coffee (390 ISK). The fish was fresh Cod, and the portions were large, well prepared and very delicious. The Chips were also very tasty. Keep in mind that there are sauce options to go with fish, but the sauces are ordered as an extra, for 290 ISK. You may want to ask for a plate, if you want to cut up the fish to eat. We used the coffee cup saucer plate. The coffee is prepared on your own from a machine with multiple coffee type options. It may not be 'Coffee House' fresh coffee, but at 390 ISK and unlimited refills, it is very reasonable for those with a budget in mind. The staff was friendly and the restaurant had a comfortable / relaxed feel. We enjoyed a corner table with a window seat. A recommended stop. Located near the Harbor, in proximity to the Aurora Museum, the Maritime Museum, Whales of Iceland, the Saga Museum, and a few blocks walk from the Reykjavik Art Museum.

Just throw in the sauce! A small family style restaurant which does fish right. Our order of Fish and Chips was simply awesome. The crust was light and airy. The fish was delicate and perfectly cooked; melted in the mouth. So good. The chips were fine too once you found them. They were buried under the fish. The portion could have been a bit bigger given the price. They try and sell you a side of sauce with the fish - a tiny amount for about USD3 and they don’t offer the ketchup which is free. You have to ask for it to be given. This is bad customer service. The veg lasagna was almost OK. The sweetness of the carrots was tried to be balanced by the tart tomatoes. It lacked flavor and could have used some more cheese. But it was served hot in a small heated skillet. Service is average. The ambiance is casual. On the whole a good place for fish.
