If you have been to many Chinatown in the world, nothing here to compare with except this Chinatown Solely for Indonesia culture for sure. Lots of alley selling foods, souvenirs, chinese medicine , temple and lunar new year decoration stuffs. You may find uncomfortable of the environment and some unhygienic food stuffs like seafood, raw chicken etc under the hot and humid weather without proper cooling ! The temple is very run down and not well maintained But served well for local people! Few Malls here selling cheap electronics stuff and also dry snacks like biscuit and peanuts. Good to see the local daily life and nothing special to look for...

The one old style market that provide almost everything that you looking for. Spices, Medicine, Old Cassette, Pipe, Chinese Herb-Medicine, Candy, Daily Needs, Fruit, Meat (even alive Turtle!!), Veggies etc. you name it and most likely you'll find it there. There are some street food like Bakso (Meatball), Nasi Campur (Rice with assorted pork), Soto, Gorengan (Fritters), and Turtle Soup (unexpectedly really good). If you wanna go there, though the place provide you with some parking area (unofficial parking area on street), i suggest you to park your vehicle at Glodok Plaza, because it more safer than parking area at Market.

Crowded, Hot, full with hundreds of stalls selling everything you could ever imagine, from snacks to pj's , hamsters, pots, fruits, herbs... everything.... 😁 should always keep your belongings safe though. A good place to find the REAL chinese food and ingredience. There is something about this place that makes me never get bored with it.... it is just amazed me every single time... aside the traffic, crowd and dirtiness its actually a place where the past , culture, history and present blended in a very unique combination.

Please note that these photos were taken before the pandemic. This is part of Chinatown that blends Chinese and Indonesian cultures harmoniously. It's unique, it's unlike any Chinatown throughout the world. Chinese herbal shops, temples, street vendors, daily fresh produce, toys! Anything one needs for daily life. Food, food, food! It's a paradise on earth. You need to be able to walk around in the scorching tropical heat and humidity but this truly is a must-see in Jakarta

It was a good day and a good story telling by our TL from jakartagoodguide, they offer lots of walking tours around central Jakarta and few in other cities. This place has been our first choice to shop for any kind of CNY stuff, sweets, nuts (they are cheaper than the one sold in malls), clothes, chinese traditional medicine, temples (one of it considered the oldest in Jakarta), even foods and culture blends in this place. Definitely will be back for the next CNY.
