Sligo County Museum — Attraction in County Sligo

Sadly I was only visiting Sligo for the day but was interested to find out about Sligo because my grandparents were born there . I arrived at the museum only ten minutes before it closed at lunchtime! Oh but the lovely kind lady actually gave me two beautiful books as a gift I was so overcome it was incredibly kind of her . Fascinating little free museum jam packed with information and exhibits relating to County Sligo. The displays are a bit old fashioned, but it's worth taking time at each one. There's wonderful exhibits about the great Irish figures of William Butler Yeats, Countess Markievicz and her sister Eva Gore Booth. It's a very small museum and probably not going to interest young children, but it promotes all that's good and great about Sligo. The museum closes for lunch, so plan your visit...

A small museum with an eclectic collection and friendly staff. The museum is quite small, only comprising a few rooms. The collection is all things related to Sligo. Due to the space constraints many of the exhibits are right beside each other and not grouped by period.
