I visited Yeats Memorial Building a few years ago. It was such a beautiful experience, I did not want to leave. There was a beautiful video to watch and it was so inspiring that ideas for poetry were flying about in my head as I was leaving. The images in the video made it feel like I was seeing things through the eyes of the great man himself. When I went home I wrote this poem and many more and since then I try looking at my surroundings in a different more involved way.
Nature is so beautiful and is so much overlooked in the worries of society.
FLIGHT OF FANCY
Lets go on a flight of fancy, To Oyster Island Shore, Where a poet and a painter Lived in days of yore; Those two little boys In a haven of delights, Haunted by Armada ships And Wild Athlantic sights; With dreams of being sailors And views of Sligo Bay, They picked mussels close to where The 'Wild Geese' sailed away. Their thoughts on finding just one piece Of long lost Spanish gold; They both found a richer treasure As their future stories told. For one became an artist The world over, he was known And into a gentle poet, The other little boy has grown.
I couldn't help but picture him as a child playing with his brother and how his imagination would have run riot and visiting the memorial building gives you the feeling of connecting with the mind of W.B Yeats.
Keep up the good work and thank you for this lovely poetic space.

I loved the exhibits, I loved the town, and I want desperately to come back some day. Your center is a hidden gem in Sligo. The Fleadh was fun as well.
