Great variety of contemporary Artworks on display in addition to the Niland collection of Jack B Yeates expressionist oil paintings and notebooks. He had a strong Sligo connection, having spent his formative years living there with his grandparents. The Model is an impressive, sensitively adapted old building with ultra modern elements added. Art work was lovely. Chose this place as lifts meaning easy access to levels and lots to see indoors. Sadly lifts not working and only one exhibition area open. Free but was looking forward to spending few hours here, sadly not enough to see and lifts being out of order made the flight of stairs quite difficult over 15 fairtly steep stairs with no chairs at the top to rest. I think if I was coming again I'd call ahead to check everything was open and available. Parking is €3...

Great art gallery - though I can never understand why it's so quiet. Some genuinely fabulous exhibitions over the years. The permanent collection has some fabulous Jack Yeats paintings and work by the likes of Dorothy Cross. The cafe has changed hands a lot since Bridget Toredes ran it and it has never seemed to be as good or as busy, which is a shame, as it's a really nice place to sit and relax.
