St Marys Cathedral Built over 800 years ago, you can really feel the grandeur of the building once you step foot inside. The large stone arches and vaulted roof, looms protectivly over it's inhabitants, and upper storey corridors really imparts the importance yet functionality of the site. As well as religious duties this Cathedral also housed the Bishops of Limerick and provided the perfect environment for undertaking any religious business or entertaining any important guests. I can sit here for hours and imagine the services that would have been said here over the last 800 years, Masses, Christenings, Weddings etc... I can imagine the people who once sat and ate in the bishops great hall, people bustling through the upper corridors busy on the days business. It's the architecture of this building that continues to draw me back to it again and again. The Antiquarian-April

It is an absolute disgrace how neglected the inside of the cathedral is. The Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle, and the chapel next to it with a pile of empty boxes stacked as if it was a storage room. In the chapels to the right of the central altar, the same thing: chairs and furniture piled up as. The worst thing is that a baptism was to be celebrated, and the guests were chatting and shouting inside the cathedral in the presence of the officiating priest as if they were drinking a Guinness in the pub next door. If Catholics ignore and disrespect Jesus in the Sacrament like this, what will non-Catholics do?

First off, 5 euros isn’t much to visit a place of this historic significance; the admission is labeled a “recommended donation” to get around commercialization regulations, so don’t be a tightpurse and just donate with a smile to help them keep this place open. Now then... for an active house of worship, there is plenty of interpretive signage to help visitors understand what they are looking at. Take your time, and be sure to admire the old pipe organ and all the ornamental glasswork. Afterwards, don’t skip the burial grounds, which are also quite interesting.

Nice church. Many colourful windows. But because it is an Anglican cathedral, the interior is not as pompous as in many Catholic cathedrals. There are no sculptures of saints and such things, and the walls are mainly out of rough stones. For a cathedral, it is also rather small inside. Not the most spectacular church in the world (go to Galway if you want to see a much more spectacular cathedral), but not too bad either. The entrance fee is a bit steep, in my opinion.

It was very, very pretty and had lots of window fixtures. We loved seeing all the cool history and art fixtures. The reception was very nice. It is only a 5 minute walk from King John’s castle. Totally worth it if you have spare time and want to visit. It is a very cultural experience for people. This is also a great history reminder for people who have forgotten their history. I highly recommend this cathedral. Not busy at all.

Don't be put of by the 5EU fee go in. The architecture of this building is sublime and one you will be hard to find elsewhere. It's incredible to think nearly a thousand years ago they had the ability to build such a magnificent building with the tools and knowledge they possessed. Fabulous historical exhibit and artifacts held in the building. Don't miss the pews. It's just a shame the tower isn't open to the public.
